Adolphus Children's Parade Advice

We love the parade. Go every year. We found that the parking lot by the McD's is the easiest to get in and out. We sit in front of the Greyhound bus stop. Once they stop the busses running (about and hour and half before the parade) you can sit right down by the street. It's close to the beginning so not a lot of waiting once the parade starts. We usually get there no later than 7 in the morning. This will be our 4th year going. I have talked a bunch of the moms from our church to join us this year and it will be so much fun. Bring $$ for the Starbucks gift cards they sell for half price ($10 cards for $5) great stocking stuffers and all the money goes to the hospital. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice on where to park, etc. but I can tell you that if you don't already have one, or have given one away that you had, you may need to invest in a "harness" for your daughter. We got one for about $10 at Target that has a little "puppy" backpack that looks like it is hugging my son from the back. He LOVES wearing it! We love it because it means I do NOT have to hold him all the time, and it allows him a little more "freedom", while keeping him safe. The one we got with the puppy is also the EASIEST one we've had to put on our son, not to mention the cutest! Letting your daughter wear one will mean you also get to watch the parade, instead of "just" watching her!

Keep an eye on the weather, especially the night before...the news will be able to help you decide if you need to bring a blanket or wear a heavy coat, since every year the weather is different on Parade Day!!

This event is CROWDED get there early minimum 1 hour prior to parade is a must to get a view. if you want to purchase tickets to seats you have to do that a year in advance.

I haven't been in years (my daughter is 15). But if you do not have reserved seats (and its too late now, I promise) you have to get there early early early. I would highly reccomend taking the train into Dallas. Get off at West End or Union Station and walk. Bring those light camping chairs to rest in. I really would suggest about an hour or more before the parade starts. If your daughter boars easily, you can take turns walking her around. If are near the beginning you can see the ballons and those will interest her greatly. I don't remember it being very long ( that's with 4 kids in tow). Even the year I was in it. I would say about an hour or less if I had to guess. There is plenty of vendors, so bring cash if you will want to buy reindeer ears, hot chocolate, balloons or other souveniors. Its a blast, and very personal. It is well worth the wait to get there early and be right on the curb.
