So I am scheduled for an ablation, has anyone else had one? How did you feel afterwards, I am taking off a total of 4 days from work, (2 days weekend). Was there a lot of pain? I also have a 3 year old I will be taking care of off and on the second day. Am I going to want to premake a few meals for the family? How soon did you feel better?
Thanks.

So What Happened?

I had it done yesterday and yes I can say I have had lots of cramping. Took only 2 pain pills yesterday and today only on tylenol. The rest is definately needed. Tonight my 13 yr old son is making mac and cheese, and pigs in a blanket. Not gourmet but I don't have to cook. I can only wait and see what my results will be.

I had one and felt better the next day. I had very little pain after - some mild cramping but nothing compared to the cramping I had before. They prescribed me something like a week's worth of painkillers, and I took half doses for a couple of days and then didn't need them anymore.

I had my uterine ablation done in November 2009. I was home from work for 2 days. My procedure was done on a Wednesday and I was back to work on Monday.

My kids were older (7 & 9) and I had my sister here to take care of everything for me. I would personally do some pre-made meals or buy the Bertolli bags of pasta that are done in 10 minutes. The first 2 days you'll have pain but for me it wasn't huge. It was like a period. You just want to follow the doctor's orders to the letter. If you have someone you trust take care of you for 24 to 48 hours after the surgery - that would be best.

I ended up having a hysterectomy in Feb 2011. And with that? I had the DiVinci Method done and was in the hospital for less than 24 hours and out shopping on Thursday.

I can tell you that ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING!! If you tell yourself you are GREAT!! baby - you are!! If you tell yourself - aahhh this hurts...every nerve in your body will go off like firecrackers!! So YOU WILL BE GREAT MAMA!!!

By the next day you will be fine and functioning. Maybe a cramp here and
there but nothing bad. Good luck. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I had one and I had no problems after. I didn't have much pain after it either and I haven't had a period since the procedure (sometimes I still get period symptoms though but no bleeding, sorry if that is TMI).

Everyone reacts differently from surgeries so just prepare some dinners in advance. You will still need to rest after so make sure your hubby will be helping out around the house for a couple of days.

I believe my NovaSure procedure was four years ago (at 41). I had some cramping for 24 hours or so but it was an AMAZING procedure. Good luck!!

I am like Cheryl O. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

I opted for complete hysterectomy abdominal bikini line incision and it was the best thing I ever did. My Dr. told me that sometimes you have to redo an ablation or end up with hysterectomy. I opted to end all procedures by having the hysterectomy. I am SO happy.

At the time my daughter was in 1st grade. The only bad thing was no driving for 2 weeks. I was at a track meet in 3 weeks.

You sound like you are motivated and if you are like me, you are not one to lounge around in bed, moan groan and want someone to take care of you. I was in the hospital 2 nights, and I had 1 bad pain day. Other than that, everything was great. I still feel great.

Good luck with your procedure.

You'll need to sleep once you get home and after that you'll be almost as good as new. As I've posted in the past I stroked it for an extra day only because my husband took off of work and I wanted him to feel "needed." LOL. I did regret not taking my doctor up on a painkiller. Good thing I had something on hand. Sleep does wonders afterwards.

SOOOOOO glad I had it done. I still get a tiny period but NOTHING like before. Good luck.

I'm having one next month through my OB. I know several women who have had them, and they've all said you just go home and rest for the remainder of the day and then you're fine. Evidently the day of, you feel a little crampy. I can't WAIT!

Are you doing this through your OB or through one of those business centers telling you need to have one?

I wanted to have an ablation done at a center in Phoenix, and I told my OB, and he told me he would drop me as a patient if I went that route. Wow, strong advice. The medical reactions are all over the map for some people. Lots of heavy bleeding, cramping for a week or longer.

Just be careful the first few few days, and taking care of a 3 year old is not an easy task by the 2nd day unless you plan on parking him in front of the TV all day.
