A Bit Early, but What to Get for Fathers Day.

So my son's dad and I aren't together anymore, but there is a possibility for us to be getting married (long story) but we are exchanging mother/father's day gifts. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO GET HIM!!! I don't have a lot of money and he isn't your typical guy. Ok he is your typical nerd guy. Does WOW, loves Bleach (anime show), going to school to be a game designer. So doing the power tool, new tie, grill thing just wouldn't be a good gift for him. Any suggestions?
**My son is only 6 month's. But I like the idea to help him build something for when he is older!
***We are LDS and so we don't drink coffee. If he liked sugar I'd get him that with some cocoa mix. But, alas he doesn't like sweets.

What can I do next?

Maybe a unique onesie for the baby with something cute on it -- maybe in reference to a video game or something about being handsome like Daddy. Check out www.etsy.com. They have a lot of cute things that might work. They even have a category for so-called Geeks.

You can buy wood cut outs of the letters d and a. Have the baby hold them and take pictures. Find a nice 3 picture frame and frame the pics so they spell dad. Inexpensive but personal and a great gift for father's day. My husband has his hanging in our house and they are great!

I have a lot of friends who are in the "nerd" category, as you describe and family who are LDS. One really meaningful thing that I've found to be enjoyable for all are photos. This can also be fairly inexpensive if you have a digital camera and watch for sales on photo frames/albums.

I would suggest that you take several pics of your baby and either put them in a multi-photo frame; or that you get a photo album/scrapbook and start it with "room to grow" so that when he takes pics of the baby or of the family, he can add to it.

I saw some Naruto themed things at Honk's $1 in Provo. Type in his favorite animes on ebay and you'll find all kinds of stuff. Gift certificate to a comic book store like Dragon's Keep. Barnes and Noble sells a cool magazine called ImagineFX. It's like $16 because it's from the United Kingdom, so it's a fun splurge. Copic markers from Artist's Corner in Orem. They're about $5 or $6 each.

Is it into his yard at all? My husband is, and I'm going to give him a fruit tree.
You could make him a coupon book with coupons for dates, a movie rental of his choice, a back rub, etc.
When you only have a baby in the house, it's really more about your relationship with your husband than your son's relationship with his dad.

You could make him something to hang on his wall near his desk with your son's hand prints or foot prints on it, or photos of him. Once I took a series of photos of our first son (about 6 months old) wearing a onesie with DH's favorite baseball team, sitting in the grass, holding a baseball bat and baseball. It turned out super cute! I found a photo frame with three small openings and put the photos in there. He still has it at work, even though our son is 6 now.

How old is your son? My sons are 6 and 2. We got buils it kits. The 2 year old got something really easy (I think a tool box or something) and my older son picked out his own and got a really cool bird house. I will help (build with him watching, but let him paint it) with my 2 year olds thing, but I let my oldest pick if he wanted to build it with me or dad. He picked dad :( So I told my hubby now so he can make special time to do it with him. The kids are really excited to make something for dad and of corse dad is excited to get something made by the kids. I paid about $15 for both of them and I got them at lows, but have seen them even in walmart.
