I can't tell you how many times my daughter did this!!! I tried everything to get it out. Dawn dish soap did not work. This will sound strange, but the only thing I found that worked was that "Gojo" hand cleanser stuff that mechanics use to get grease off their hands. It is a little h*** o* the hair, but it works. I would follow it up with a good conditioner and let it soak in for a little while. I'm sorry to hear that my daughter isn't the only child to do this! Hopefully she'll only do it once ;)

That reminds me of the time my daughter and her friend put vaseline all over their face and in their hair while my husband was "watching them" lol! I thought my neighbor was going to have a fit when she arrived to pick her daughter up and she was covered in vaseline!

It was a nightmare to get out, we had to wash my daughters hair many times before we could get it all out. Sprinkle baby powder on the brush I found that the baby powder helped absorb some of the grease.

Good Luck

i would say buy a chelating shampoo or just use some dawn dish soap be careful not to get any in her eyes.

I've gotten thick grease out of hair or clothing by thinning it with a very light oil first. Jojoba oil is great for this, and widely available at natural food stores. After the greasiness is cut, shampoo. You may need to repeat once or twice to get all of it out.

You may have recommendations for tea trea oil (melaleuka). This is an effective solvent for heavy grease, but it has caused rare cases of breast enlargement in little boys and is suspected to be a hormone-disruptor.

A similar solvent made from orange peel that has no demonstrated hormone activity is Citra-Solv (see details at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009LA744/ref=pd_lpo_k2....

Even this should not be used full-strength on the skin, however, because it's extremely drying, and can cause irritation.

Probably like having vaseline in her hair so it's going to take several washings to get it out. I agree with trying the dish soap just be super careful of her eyes. Otherwise it will eventually wash out on it's own but will probably take several days.

My niece put vaseline in her hair and I think my sister used Dawn (or probably any brand would work? ) dish soap... it is supposed to get the grease out! Good luck!

I would say that time and repeated washings should take care of it. I can remember my youngest daughter bathing herself in vaseline, it took a LOT of repeated washings to get it all out!!
Good luck
