My baby turns six months on the 10th. He's been HORRIBLE with sleeping lately. He was sleeping from 7ish to 6ish... and now he's up at 2 and 4 again! I seriously think with my son it's teething. He's drooling all over the place and chewing on everything in sight. It's got to be driving him nuts... Is he eating regularly? Mine has been refusing meals here and there lately... Which I think also affects sleep patterns... Good luck. I hope he starts sleeping better for you soon!

My 6 month old is doing similar things. It could be a growth spurt or the teething that is bothering him. Both can mess up sleep patterns in babies.

your kid is teething and in pain . hes going to wake often to nurse as nursing is a natural pain reliever. this too shall pass

He really might be heading towards a growth spurt. They tend to eat a lot more when they are about to grow. I would just keep feeding him every time he wakes and try to remember that this is just a phase. It shouldn't be too long before he's sleeping better again. If he seems in pain you could give him some tylenol or ibuprofen. For some reason my boys responded better to ibuprofen when they were teething.

My son slept very well his first three months, after that he began waking to eat every few hours or more to nurse. Wanting to eat every 4 hours is normal for a baby, especially at only 6 months, they're growing...when he wakes at night I would give him formula or breastmilk. The formula/breastmilk has what they need to grow and develop .

He might be getting his first teeth. They may not be visible yet for a while, but it would explain the drooling, sleep disturbances and wanting to eat (for the pressure on the gums). My second son was an excellent sleeper until 5 or 6 months. I never did find a way to help him, so just had to deal with a less excellent sleeper. Good luck!

This is a Growth-Spurt age.
Then another one will be 3 months later at 9 months, then 12 months, then 15 months and so forth every 3 months.

At growth-spurts, babies and kids, get hungrier, need to feed more and more often.
And yes, they wake more for this.
They need their intake to keep up WITH them.

For the 1st year of life, breastmilk or Formula is a baby's PRIMARY source of nutrition, NOT solids and NOT other liquids.
And always nurse/feed on-demand. Day and night, 24/7.

Solids for the 1st year, is NOT their main intake. It is only an introduction to 'eating.' Not their main meal.

Baby needs, to get intake to keep up with him.
And yes, he may be teething. too.
Many things going on at the same time.
This is common.
It is babyhood.

Just feed/nurse him.

My kids at that age, were getting solids once a day. I nursed on-demand throughout the day. They had GINORMOUS appetites and nursed. Day and night. And they woke during the night too.

Always nurse BEFORE solids and before naps and bedtime. If you give solids before nursing, your milk supply will diminish and baby will be to full to nurse and they will wean from breast. You do not want that to happen. Babies still get their primary nutrients from breastmilk or Formula. Solids, does NOT have all of the nutrients a baby needs.
