17Mo Old Boy Won't Use a Blanket

I have a 17mo old boy that has never liked to use a blanket. If I put a blanket over him he gets mad and kicks it off immediately. I've tried different types of blankets and he doesn't like any of them. I do put on thicker pjs on colder nights but my worry is him not understanding that a blanket is for keeping him warm. Anything to worry about? Also, I've tried to push a lovey (stuffed bear) on him and he will not go for it (or any other stuffed toy). Any tips?

What can I do next?

I agree, he doesn't need a blanket!!!! I have 5 boys and the older ones now 8 and 9 are just starting to use their covers...and don't push a security item on him!!!! He's secure enough within himself...that's a dream to most people!!!!!!!! When he gets an item that means a lot to him he'll keep it safe...not all kids need that....out of my 5 kids only 1 needed a blanket...two used a binki...and I can't think of anything that the other 2 ever deemed significant...no big deal!

He doesn't need a blanket. Right now my almost 2 yo is starting to keep his blanket on. Just check and see how he feels, more than likely if he is too cold he will wake up, I agree just keep him in warm PJs with a onezie, socks if needed

Nothing to worry about. Just keep him in warm pj's, and an undershirt. I'm sure your home is far from cold and our body temps go up while we are sleeping (I read that somewhere). My 3 yr old gets mad too whenever I try to cover him. He's fine!

Try a zip up blanket sleeper. They go right over their pajamas and will keep him extra warm. However if he is not waking up at night cold he may not require a blanket he could be comfortable just as he is. His body may not require extra blankets and a blanket sleeper may make him to warm. You are the only one who knows your baby so you would have to make the call. Good luck!!

He doesn't need a blanket! Get comfy fleece or flannel PJ's that cover his feet, and he'll be fine. And if he doesn't want a stuffed animal- hey, one less thing to worry about losing! :)

As long as he's sleeping and happy, don't worry!
