123 Magic

Hi, S.-
I am an 'older' mom to a 32 month old girl as well and I am wondering. . . what is the 123 Magic method? If it has to do with potty training will you let me know if you get any worthwhile responses? I am getting desperate!

Hi S.. AWESOME book! It really is magic. We started when our daughter was about 20 months and it works WONDERS! I don't have to yell...ever. Just make sure you read it thoroughly and follow through with instructions like "no yelling." We parent by that book and we don't know what we'd do without it. Worth every penny.

It came highly recommended to us by a father of a 8 and 4 year old. We have a 4 year old and started the counting and no talking methods on him when he was 3. It works great! We love it and plan to use it on our other 3 kids.

Read a few of the other responses and 123 Magic is a book about developing discipline for kids 2-12. That being said, I'll tell you I didn't find it until my son was 8 yoa and it worked even at that late stage. As long as you can train yourself to stick to it, it's great.

What exactly is the 123 magic method? I've never heard of it.

I had so many problems with my oldest, we went through counseling, meds, therapists, everything and this video was what they told us to use... we had to sit through the entire thing and we tried and tried... it did not help us with any of our children... we have found that "standing on the wall" helps us disipline our children... we stand them on the wall, they put their forheads on the wall and stand at an angle... it may sound a little harsh to some, but its what we found that works for our kids and it doesnt invovle spanking....

YES, YES AND YES!! It's a great book. There are DVD's available. They gentleman who wrote that book and others is a clinical psychologist, with an amazing personal story (children with ADHD, did not want to use harsh discipline, so came up with this program that really works). It has been so successful that many school districts in California have adopted his program. I heard him speak at Christ Lutheran Church and School in Phoenix a year or so ago. You can probably buy his books on Amazon for a discount, or just google the title. Very easy, effective way to manage many disciplinary issues.
