Hello, again. I am probably using this too much, but I don't know where else to learn new things. I'm a first timer, and my mom doesnt remember anything from when I was little! So, long story short. My baby boy is 10 months old. He LOVES his solids, and if he doesn't get them, boy does he get mad!! He's had pasta, and potato (little pieces from my plate) and lots of toast with jam. I do give him meat (from baby food jars) And I am wondering if I should let him have anything else yet? I don't want to over do it, but I would HATE for him to not be getting enough. He is a big boy for his age (tall & solid), but not overweight. He does have a couple front teeth, but no back ones. Any ideas would be helpful.

What can I do next?

You don't have to only use food labeled "baby food". He can eat anything you do, just make sure it is soft enough for him to chew without teeth. My son hated the taste of baby food, and only ate a couple of jars his whole life. He was eating what we ate for dinner, and if it was too much for him to chew, I'd put it in the blender.

I hope you find this helpful!

My son gave up baby food all together by 11 mos, he was the exact same way. Give your son anything he cannot choke on and it is even better that he eats what you do. The earlier that you expose him to spices and flavors the less likely he will be picky. Go ahead and give him meats if you are eating meats, diced up turkey is a great source of protein, hard boiled eggs diced up (if there are no egg allergies in the family history). I avoided tough meats to chew and did those Gerber meat sticks for my son at that age. My son is and always has been 98th percentile, at four he is wearing 6T clothes! He is almost as tall as his seven year old sister, hee hee. It is good to let him eat off your plate as long as it is tiny and not where he can choke! Teaching him to eat what you do is awesome! Have fun, it is fun giving them new things to try!! :) Also cheese pizza cut up tiny was a favorite too! :)

Hi S.!
My son is just shy of 10 months and loves to eat (most of the time)! We started a variety of foods early on and have really good luck with: fresh fruit cut into very small pieces especially strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. Kraft Cheese singles in small peices, not a great food but it does have some calcuim! Lots of yogurt, all flavors! Yoplait is a great choice! All the Gerber Toddler snacks: Yogurt Puffs, Little Star things (can't think of name), and the Cheetoh type snacks in the can. These say they are for toddlers but our son loves them and they dissolve really quickly so he doesn't choke. I don't know if your son is like mine, but he does not want to be fed, he wants to do it himself! We also have found that they can eat pretty much anything from your plate as long as it is cut really really small. I just tried Chef Boyardee and he liked it pretty well, watch out though this one is messy! And of course, the all time favorite: Mac and Cheese! Hope this helps a little bit!

My daughter gave up baby food quite early, she thinks she is a big girl with EVERYTHING. She didnt even have her first tooth til 11 mos and i learned that the gums are very efficient in chewing up food as long as your not eating steak or anything i think even then i gave her tiny tiny little bits to get the taste for it. Just stay away from adding excessive amounts or sodium and all that good stuff.
