I'd say GO FOR IT! I took interest in the Wii when I read an article in a psychology mag that looked at brain stimulation and video games and found that just the physical aspects of the game stiulate more areas of the brain than regular 'thumb-only' video games. And most of the games are physical or educational... Big Brain Academy is a bunch of fun little games, divided into what area of thinking it works-analytical, visual, cognition, computing, and so on...besides the physical and academic benefits, I was drawn to the social benefits as well, it's marketed as a very family-friendly game, something for everyone to play together. the graphics are pretty basic, nothing racy, yet you can customize each feature on you Wii character (called a 'Mii', lol) so they look surprisingly close to the real you... it connects your tv to the internet so you can even play with friends and relatives, it's tons of fun...we have one, and we play it ALL THE TIME. out of all the high-priced tech toys that are out there, this one is definately worth getting!

We have one. We got it to "upgrade" since we already had Game Cube and you can play those games on it (which is good for you to know-- Wii games are expensive-- I think 50 bucks each--- and you can find old used Game Cube games and play them on Wii, too-- just be sure to ask at the store what else you need as far as hardware to play them-- you need the controllers plus I think a memory card). Make sure you research on line to see the reviews of games before you buy them because once you buy one you're stuck with it. We like it because it has a lot of family games like Mario stuff-- but with your older boys I'd make sure there are enough games they'll like, too. As far as I know there is only one version of Wii

A couple of my friends have them and love them. They especially like the Wii Fit addition (about 90 bucks, I think?) that really gets you on your feet, with cool balance training activities, and exercise programs that let you chart your progress.

I don't think I have ever heard of a complaint with the Wii. We have had ours for just about a year now & we have never had a problem. We LOVE it. I only play mariocart b/c that is my favorite. But my son plays EVERYTHING! Great game to keep the kids acrtive also!! It is a must have! My husband said he bought it for the kids....but funny he used his birthday money that was suppose to be used to go to Vegas. That kind of explains he is a child at heart & needed it just as much as the kids. FUN!
