OK, I'll admit it that I'm not THE most deft of an outdoorsman, but I want to be. I am wanting to hone my skills so that we can go camping and do more outdoors-y type activities. So, aside from the obvious of purchasing a tent, what other supplies are "must haves" for a happy camping session.

My son is a cub scout (I'm his Den Leader) and I know we're both learn more as we go through the scouting program together... but asking for advice never hurts right?! :)

What can I do next?

As long as I have baby wipes and bath wipes so I feel clean, I'm happy.

Also, a nice propane stove and pots for the necessary bacon, egg and pancake breakfast are wonderful.

Fun things to cook are kabobs. Bring cut up chicken or steak, carrots, pineapple, bell pepper, mushrooms, and grill them or cook in foil packets.

A battery operated fan is wonderful for muggy nights and mornings.

Lots of snacks, trail mix, granola bars, apples, oranges, beef jerky, and plenty of water are great.

Bring a tarp or large blanket to lay down so everyone can sit to eat and hangout and some little camper chairs that you can easily fold up, some people even bring little card tables.

Definately toilet paper, camera, flashlight, and smore's neccesities, sunscreen bug spray and citronella candles and yes, a first aid kit, bandana and an extra pair of shoes.

It's also fun and educational to take a little nature book so you can look up interesting nuts, leaves, plants, berries, birds and animal footprints when you find them.

Have fun!

First time go only one weekend, you will find out what you are missing for longer trips.

Don't forget the marshmellows!

Good luck,
