Hello! I am a mom of a 19 year old and a grandma of a 9 month old. I have years of trick or treat experience! I come from a small town where we went door to door. However, when the military moved us here and my daughter was 2 years old, I felt uneasy about this. This area gives wonderful alternatives. Many of the malls have trick or treat inside. this is safe, warm, and you know the candy is safe. there are also costume contests at the malls and all kinds of fun activities. Call your local malls to see which ones are participating and when. Also, so many of the churches here have awesome parties for the children and include the neighborhood children. For years, my church has had a party every year and the children go in small groups through the halls to the various Sunday School classroom doors and trick or treat within the church and then return to the social hall for food, games and costume contests. Check the paper, go on-line, and call the various malls. You'll have a fun time!

I think you can go where ever you want to, but one of my co-workers said that you must be done by 8pm. (This is our first Halloween here too!) I'm also going to take our son to the Halloween event at the ocean front on Saturday (as long as it's not raining).

We are new here too, (7 months)we are going the the Gallery at Military Circle. It was the closest mall to us that had events advertised on the website. We live closer to Pembroke Mall but they didn't have any events listed on their website when I looked.

A.,
You could also try Virginia Beach Parks & Rec. Most of the facilities have Halloween festivities. Halloween is a big event in my neighborhood...so we look forward to taking the kids out around here. Good Luck & Happy Halloween.

Since you have a tiny one you might want to take your preschooler to the mall to trick or treat, that way the baby is out of the weather. It's beena bit chilly at night the last few days. Unless of course baby is staying home with daddy.

Greenbrier has signs up in the mall about Trick Or Treating, both Lynnhaven and Pembroke are Trick or Treating but the mall isn't sponsoring it and information doesn't have lists of who is participating.

If you choose to trick or treat in your neighborhood or another you can only trick or treat between 6-8pm.

There is an event at the oceanfront called Screech Street tomorrow (sat) night. check out www.vbgov.com for things happening in the city.
