One of my girlfriends told me about a site where you can list projects that you need done and local professionals bid on the job. I can not for the life of me remember what it was. I even used it once to find someone to do a dump run for me. Anyone know what I'm talking about and what the website is?

Go to your local fire station - a lot of those guys do odd jobs on the side or can refer you to someone they trust/know.

You can also put up bulletins at local colleges in your area. We hired many kids who were more than happy to make a few bucks and did a really great job from yardwork to helping us pack up to move. They gave us references, of course, and we checked them. But, we found some really great help that way. You can give it a try.
