What to Serve on the Side at a Soup Bar

I am having bunco at my house this Friday. I have decided to do a soup bar. We will have three crock pots serving chicken enchilada soup, cheesy potato soup and my husband's homemade chili. I'm trying to decide if I should do bread bowls or not. I'm thinking some might like that but then again some might want to try more than one soup in which case regular bowls would be better. What finger foods should I serve along with this? Veggie tray? Ham and cheese pinwheels? Tortilla roll ups? Chips & Salsa? Help!!! I'm at a loss.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions you have. This group is the best!

So What Happened?

All of you guys are great! I have decided to add the "sides" such as cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, etc. I am also going to do the bread idea. Thank you very much!! You have really helped me create an awesome meal for my friends.

Don't forget the items that compliment the soups:

enchilada soup: shredded cheese, avocado, tortilla strips
potato soup: shredded cheese, real bacon bits, sour cream
chili: shredded cheese, sour cream, onions, fritos, crackers

Also, how about a salad bar?

I would serve the "extras" like Momma11 said and then also offer some hearty crusty bread and corn bread - I like corn bread with chili.

all of your ideas are excellent! My vote is not to do the bread bowls - following along with your thoughts on multiple samplings.

What about doing a bread basket with a variety of rolls & breads? Combine a selection of flavored butters: honey butter, one with chopped chives or green onion, & one with some heat....either chili powder or green chilies.
Round out the meal with a vegie & fruit tray, with dips.....and a nice selection of desserts & sweets. Have fun!

bread- either home made or store bought assortment of rolls, baguettes, cornbread, etc. Stuff to go along with the soups like previous poster said.

If you have wheat flour & a bread pan you can make an awesome & easy poured wheat bread (more batter like and poured into the pan than doughy that you have to knead - which IMO makes it super easy). Message me for the recipe.

Keep it simple & focus on the fun!

The veggie tray is always fine, but I would avoid the other three as these flavors and styles of food would detract from the theme of the "soup bar." All these foods are chilled and soup is a nice hot winter food. Something room temperature or warm will complement your soups. If you don't do the bread bowls than I would recommend some kind of crusty bread (French, artisan, or baguette) or a nice hearty corn bread. Little sandwiches (grilled cheese, italian meats or my personal favorite: a monte cristo) or ham and cheese empanadas would also work well.
