What to Do with Halloween Candy...?

Any ideas on what to do with leftover Halloween candy? My daughter and her friend agreed to trade their candy for a toy instead... So I now have both of theirs, plus all the remaining bags that my husband bought (he always thinks we're gonna have tons more kids than we do.)

I can take it to work... I can throw it away... But wasn't sure if there was any other alternative? Any ideas?

What can I do next?

I am having the same issue. I have so much candy and my son just wants to eat it all. His birthday is not untill July so it will be pretty old by then. So we now I am going to put handfuls of candy in every gift I give. Even for his teachers and the kids in the classroom etc.

I'm not sure if any of these places will accept it or not, but it's worth a shot:

Nursing homes, Veterans homes, Meals on Wheels, hospitals, foster care groups, or shelters.

EDIT: I just received this info from a neighbor of mine today. You can mail candy to this address and they will distribute it to the troops:

Operation Gratitude

California Army National Guard

17330 Victory Boulevard

Van Nuys, California 91406

Attn: Charlie Othold

Good Luck,
K.

A friend of mine and I had this discussion DURING trick or treating this year. LOL. Here is what we came up with.
Pinatas
Party favors for birthday bags
Christmas Ornaments
Crafts (glue paper like mosaic)
My favorite and what we will do---Decorate gingerbread houses
--We will probably just build them out of graham crackers and royal iceing.

maybe if you know anyone that's having a bday party they could use it for the candy bags or pinata.

I found this at slmom.com.

Bring your candy to 425 Stafford Run in Stafford. Call ###-###-#### or visit www.humanneeds.org for more info, directions or to find out about volunteer opportunities. Helping Hands, 802 Morton Street, Richmond, will also accept donations of candy from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.

I heard this question on the radio today, and one caller said, send it to your child's teacher, they can use it for treats. At least guess some schools do and if not the staff and teachers would like it. (I think she was a teacher herself) ha Hope you find the right place!

I just stick my kids' candy on the top of the fridge then let them have just a couple pieces a day, and it's good leverage to get them to eat whatever I want them to LOL even though they are good eaters and will eat veges and fruits, if they ask me for candy I say "ok after you have a banana" or whatever =D
you could also take the chocolate candy and use it to make cookies and hand them out for Christmas gifts to your neighbors/family/friends!
