Hello,
I have a 20 month old that loves to dance and loves music.

What's a good age to get them involved in an actual dance program?

Does anyone have suggestions on where to go within Cherokee County (Georgia)?

What's the general cost for such an activity?

Thank you!
A

So What Happened?

Dance Imagination came to my rescue and we'll be signing our daughter up for the Spring session. We're very excited about it!

Hi! My name is L. Cornett and I own Dance Imagination which is located in the Towne Lake area of Cherokee County. We begin students at 18 months in our Mommy and Me classes. Moms are not required to dance - but are always welcome to join in the fun. We teach Fairytale ballet which includes reading a story each week and then acting out the story with costumes, props and dance. We offer Mommy and Me classes on different days during the week and they are combined with tumbling or tap instruction. Feel free to visit our website at danceimagination.com or call me at ###-###-#### and we can get you scheduled for a free trial class. Hope to see you!

My little girl started around 2years and she loves it!!!! I would make sure it's an organized dance class though. The first one she attened was not regular and she didn't really learn anything. Now she's at TLC, which is in the daycare and she just loves it. We're still working on the recital part though.:-) Good Luck.

I didn't start my oldest in any classes until she was a little over 2, however when the first child went to kindergarten 5 days a week my then 18 month old was in a fit to go to school also. I started her in a wonderful program which starts ballet at 18 months. The place is located in Town Lake (Woodstock) and called Dance Imagination. She takes a ballet/tumbling class so there is a lot of activity. Each week they focus on a story and then dress up to go along with the story (mostly as princesses but also puppies, nemo, madeline, etc.) and then get taught movement with a lot of props to keep their attention. My younger daughter is now thrilled to have her own "school" to tell her sister about at the end of the day, too bad it is only 1 day a week.

I would think 3 yrs for official dance steps, but I have a great music program until then. At M. Treehouse our Musikgarten Music & Art classes dance with scarves, play drums, rhythm sticks, jump, crawl, fly, & more. It involves lots of free dance, animal actions, and self expression. My new class format includes music, sight words, sign language, art, and play time in every class. It's a weekly 1 hour class for $50/mo., though if you miss a class you can make it up by attending another class. You also get a discount for referring others. I know I'm not right around the corner from you, but I have someone driving from Woodstock and another driving from Canton, because it's the only program like it and we're like a family community. I'm a little west of the Marietta Square, so you can come from 75 or Barrett Pkwy. depending on where you live. I hope you'll come check it out &/or tell friends. When looking for official dance there's one off the Wade Green Road exit that's been teaching great dance for 21 years. Brenda Mealor is the owner and the site is www.dancerstudio.com. You can call and talk to her about ages, but knowing children's development I would say finding something free form for now and something more structured at 3 would be best. Hope all this helps. Take care and God bless! LaLa
