Staying with family in Sacramento for while.
My dogs need a bath.
The temp here is hot (approx 105).
Hust says that too hot the wash the dogs as they will need to stay outside until they dry.
He says it's better to wait until it's about 80 degrees.
What do you all think?

I prefer to do it when it is hot so that the dog is not freezing from the cold hose water! It would probably feel good right now for her since it is hot. She will dry fast. Towel her down and then like 15 minutes later she is dry enough to come inside. I will do it anywhere from 60 degrees +. Under 60 degrees I wash her in the bathtub b/c I think she would get too cold.
I wash my dog outside when it is sunny and mid 80s or hotter. He loves it and it cools him down. I usually leave him out for a while to dry. I don't see why you can't do it.
i never worry about it being too hot. you're not planning on leaving them out for hours, right? just till they dry?

The dog will dry really fast. I live in Texas, and it;s commonly more hot then that. We bathe our dogs with no problems.
When we bathe our dog, we keep her inside to dry, because the first thing she'll do when she gets outside is find something to roll in.
Wet dogs are crazy just for the first few minutes. They glare at you. They race around the house and shake water all over. Then they settle down. Really.
Another alternative is to take your dogs to a dog washing facility. You pay to use the equipment, and your dogs are in a cooler, better environment than (yikes!) 105 degrees.
wash them with cold water, it will cool them down, towel dry as much as you can.. if its that hott out theyll dry quickly.. just make sure they have plenty of water to drink for the short time they will be outside .. when we wash my dog and its really hott out after we wash him we let him go in the garage and we set up a fan.. the air blowing on them when they are wet cools them down.. he drys really fast that way too
my thinkin' is the opposite:
I use the bath tub & then let the dogs dry inside....& I keep the dogs inside for most of the next week or so - just to preserve that "just bathed" scent! Otherwise, why bother having a clean dog? LOL
I don't let my dogs dry outside either- I do wash them outside because they are big. BUT if I wash them then leave them out to dry they will come inside dirty again!
I was just close to Sacramento, in Chico CA. Yuck, I hate the heat.
If the dog is hot, be very careful not to use cold water. Cold water can cause excess heat to go to their organs and shut them down. It can cause shock, in other words.
As long as the water is warm, the air temp shouldn't matter that much. And yes, in that heat, the dog should dry fast!
