What Is the Proper Word for This?

What do you call someone who is like this: If you ask a question of them and you accidentally forgot that you asked it before of them, they will say: I've already told you that, remember? Or if you ask a question, they reply with short answers (and always with a militant, combative chip on their shoulder). I know there is a word used to describe this type of personality/behavior, but it's just not coming into my head!

Thanks!

Maybe they are tired of constantly repeating themselves and feeling like no one listens. In that case, I would just call them ignored.

Seriously I can't answer this because at some point in time all of us have done that. It doesn't sound like a personality it sounds like how a fair few people behave when they don't like someone.

Smartass? (Sorry!)

How about "just wait til you can't remember what you ate for breakfast and see how it feels when I talk to YOU like this"?

Works for me!

Other choices are: curt, succinct, arrogant, cynical, terse, rude, awful, and stank.

That's what I would say.

Not an answer to your question, but I work with a woman once a week who tells me the same stories over and over and over. She's in her thirties, so I don't think it's Alzheimer's. It really is annoying, and I have found myself saying "you already told me that, remember?" I feel rude saying that, but she's driving me nuts!
