running thru the yard to see if I can knock myself unconscious with my big boobs, and watching tv at night. yeah its not exciting but after my kids I have no life anymore.
Hi Everyone!
I haven't been on mamapedia for a few days. It was my birthday the other day and my hubby gave me the day off. :-D We don't have any money to go out, so I stayed in and played with the kids, chased my cats around (love tormenting them..it's hilarious), and I have this Rollercoaster game that I love to play.
What do you all like to do when money is tight?
Have a great weekend ya'll!

beach, pedicures, massages, yoga, zumba, weight training, wine tasting, dancing, rollerblading.
I'm an "expert" on this subject! LOL. Play games!, ride bikes, catch, roast marshmallows, go for walks, hiking, play at the park, read a book together, snuggle in bed together, we play tag in the house--it's one of her favorite games...really anything because the best time you spend is time spent with your child!
Today we are headed for the free Octoberfest in our downtown. Lots of fun.
Then we are going to our Lifegroup meeting tonight for a pot luck and prayer time. Being with good friends is something I always enjoy.
hanging with my girlfriends playing cards and eating snacks. Rent a movie and get my favorite take out.
I will go to he library..alone and read, walk the mall and try on clothes and dream. Go to the cosmetics counter and try on stuff for fun. Engage yourself at your kids school with other Mom's and you will find a group of women and then start suggesting a monthly potluck and get together. No one person bears the cost and it doesn't cost alot to make something simple and share and talk. Take a "free" class either through your park district or library or craft store. join a church group. Walk through a park you never visited in your town, find out if you enjoy things like gardening by puttering in your yard and sharing or receiving plants through freecycle, volunteer at an animal shelter if you love animals, volunteer at a homeless shelter, learn to coupon at a seminar, find a part time job at a place that you want a discount from and money won't be as tight and you will also have a discount. Try out different ways of curling or brushing or putting up your hair. Have an at home spa night with friends take turns painting nails, doing hair, give shoulder or scalp massages. Have a campout in the backyard with friends/tents/best thing is the indoor plumbing. Have fun!
I like to just be able to DRIVE around alone. Go where I want, window shop, go to a park, go to a flower garden and sit. Then i come home and wish it were a day off again !
When money's tight for fun I swim and surf and snorkel. When money's not tight I dive and drink cocktails and swim, surf and snorkel. I go to dinner with friends and strangely the best fun I have for a night out is with my work colleagues. Their average age is 60 and it's a laugh! With the children for fun we do the water sports thing, try a bit of baking, dance and read.
Festivals. Festivals. Festivals! This is harvest season and there are at least two a weekend. DD and I are heading to an Oktoberfest.
Othe forms of economical fun from a low-maintenance, tight-budgeted easy-to-please mom:
1.) Baking chocolate chip cookies, that's about the only thing I can bake successfully!
2.) Taking DD and the jogger to the park.
3.) Feeling like a child again on the swings!
4.) The library: There's always a children's room/or story hours
5.) The mall: There are usually kid's areas and of course a coffee kiosk or two
Solo fun:
Running, reading, mamapedia :-)
Matinee movies, taking a hot bath without Elmo and Cookie Monster
Happy hour with a friend
Bowling
Take a walk, play with kids, take a short drive somewhere, go to the park, watch people at the mall, drive just to get ice-cream at McDonald, talk to you folks, rest!
Buy some cheap vodka, have a few shote, turn on Pandora to my favorite stuff and just act goody till it's time to hit the sheets.
Free or mostly free?
- Play in the snow/ snowboard (I have all my gear, it's just driving)
- Swim in the ocean/ surf
- Read
- Write
- Take pictures
- Drive
- Watch some favorite Tv (I'm always finding new stuff to stream! Just watched Sherlock - 3 episode mini from BBC)
- Learn something new
Our younger son is a freshman this year. We are enjoying his time in H.S to the fullest...fully embracing Band, Scouts, & the clubs he's in. Our older son did not participate thru his H.S. years....so this is a pleasure for us!
2day was a Band competition....& they took 1st for Parade & 2nd for their division in Field. A very good day....with Homecoming 2nite!
Just seeing him happy....is FUN for us. The parent years are rapidly dwindling.
