We normally get together with family, have dinner, play cards, and if we stay up for the new year we celebrate with a bottle of champagne and cut the sweet bread with coin in it. Whoever wins the coin, has luck throughout the year. Otherwise we do it the day after.

We generally host all of our married friends w/ children at our house and we all have a blast. Last year we all met at a super fun local Mexican restaurant and ate dinner, then headed back to our house (32 people strong!) We spent our night dancing to 80s tunes, playing all of our musical instruments (we have electronic drums, bongos, electric guitars, keyboards, flute, etc.), playing Wii games, etc. Anyone and everyone is welcome to spend the night afterward and we always have takers on that one.

we don't go out. haven't for 12 years. people are CRAZY!!!

we (bob and I) put on our aprons and cook chicken cordon bleu together.
we start a fire and watch a movie or play Scrabble.

since i don't drink and champagne gives me a headache - we toast the New Year with the Sparkling Cider and he has his wine or champagne!!

On New Year's eve, we celebrate Christmas with my extended family. We have a big buffet and every family brings one or two dishes to share. I was kind of sad when my siblings and I all got married and had families of our own that we couldn't do our traditional Christmas Eve party (due to distance and everyone wanting to be home with their kids on Christmas day) so we just moved it to New Year's Eve and its great! One of my favorite times of the whole year!

We don't get to celebrate together every year because I work NY Eve every-other year, and was on midnight shift for 17 yrs.
But when we do, our favorite thing to do is to go to my best friend's house. everyone wears pajamas, we all bring dishes to pass, there's pizza, pop, maybe a little alcohol, but not usually since another friend's husband is a recovering alcoholic, and we all play cards. It's wonderful!

Well, my hubby and I used to do the high end hotel package thing on New Years Eve, where you eat, drink, dance and then go to your hotel room after a great night celebrating. Now that we have our son, we buy tons of decorations, horns, confetti, poppers, have a nice dinner and have lots of fun watching all of the countries and of course New York celebrate the new year and we wouldn't have it any other way. Then off to bed and spend New Years Day together doing whatever we want. My family is in New Mexico and my husbands family is in England and Cyprus, so it's just the three of us.

My son is a New Year's Eve baby - so we celebrate his birthday. At 5 - he thinks it is awesome.

I think as he gets older we will have our house as the "hang out" spot for his friends to celebrate the new year and his birthday.

this year we won't be able to do anything because my husband has to work midnights and i have to work the day shift on new year's day. past years though, we would have my husband's nieces (the 2 youngest anyways) over and we would order pizza and make popcorn later and "sip" sparkling white grape juice while watching the ball drop.
