I decorate the house with my kids, we go apple picking and bake apple pies and other yummy treats, closer to halloween we bake sugar cookies and decorate them, we go pick out pumpkins, they love raking leaves and jumping in them, while its still decent out we go on hikes and collect leaves they like to press them and make a project with them.

Every year during Fall recess at school we rent a mountain cabin for a week. We spend the days hiking in the woods, fishing, cuddling in front of the fire at night with hot chocolate, playing board games, bike riding or just having a picnic by the lake.

The kids love to collect leaves, glue them to large paper and then paint around them with different Autumn colors. Then they sign and date them.

I've kept several of their "works of art" over the years and it's so neat to see how their art work differs every year. =-)

We also go leaf searching, and press the leaves in between the pages of books...of course every year we promptly forget which book/what pages, and then we get a fun surprise opening books all year long :)

Another thing we like to do is go to the fruit farm, our local one has a corn maze, pick your own pumpkins and apples, cider, hayrides and all sorts of other things

Fall festivals, corn maze, apple picking, pumpkin picking and decorating/carving them, raking leaves and jumping in them, bonfires and making s'mores, telling storeis around the fire, taking walks and finding all the "cool" leaves and making collages out of them, going "hunting" (walking thru the woods looking for animals), cider, hot chocolate, making scarecrows that look like ourselves, all the Halloween/fall decorating. I could go on and on, I LOVE fall!!

When we are able to get away at the right time (not every year unfortunately) we LOVE to pick apples! Our kids love the tree climbing part, and choosing the best or biggest ones. Or the one from the highest part of the tree or whatever. And we all love the fresh crisp apples and the apple pie that comes after.

We also like to hike trails in the mountains, again, if we can get away... we live in the deep south, so it is not cool at all here until sometimes December, and even then we have "shorts weather" some days.

I like to have the kids rake up the leaves and use the wheel barrow to make a big pile. They like to wheel each other around in the wheelbarrow. :)
They are 9 and 12.

Oh... and each of us carving our own pumpkins is something the kids just LOVE! They always talk about the year mine rotted and caved in before Halloween got here... hahah .. Like I said, we live in the deep south, and the heat and humidity do a number on those pumpkins pretty fast (they don't last buy maybe a week before they are FILLED with mold).

We go to the great State Fair of Texas.

We have a fall party and daughter's friends dress up in halloween attire for a contest, DJ, food and fun. Last year we had over 100 teens!! Oh, we also hire off duty police officers to keep everything on the up and up.

Leaf searching :) We'll go for walks in the woods and see how many different types and then different colors of the same types of leaves we can find. We'll bring them back then and the girls will to a rubbing scrap book of them.

Fall is my favorite time of year. We have made going to the local pumpkin patch a tradition in our family. This year will be our 4th time going. Fall is also the start of desert season/dirt bike season for our family. We go camping at least once or twice a month and ride dirt bikes.

I grow up in the midwest and I really miss watching the leaves change and all the gorgous colors of fall.
