Wedding Planning

I know this is a BROAD question BUT .. My brother just got engaged and his wife-to-be has asked me for some help. A little background, they have been dating several years and are planning the wedding for October or Novemeber. They are both in their 30's. I was wondering if anyone has ANY advice on GREAT florists, photographers, locations, etc. I know they would like to keep the event under $20,000 so any tips on GREAT services at inexpensive prices would be nice to know. Also, if you know a place that allows you to bring in your own beer and wine; I know that that could save a lot of money!

Thanks in advance for any and all information!

Hi There
I love weddings!!!

They won't let you bring your own drinks but we had our reception (they do weddings too) at Cappella Court in Richardson. They also have a location in Garland. They were fabulous to work with, make their own VERY YUMMY cakes and they put us on a payment plan. They have 3 rooms to accomodate any size wedding party. http://www.cappellacourt.com/

We also visted a GREAT place Swingin D Ranch in Plano
http://www.swingindranch.com/weddings/ They allow you to BYOB!

Best wishes to your brother and his future wife!

I had my invitations done at Party City and they are 50-70% off and they were spectacular. As far as the cakes they were at Delicious Cakes in Addison, ask for Abigail. She did a wonderful job:)

Estee Lauder at Nieuman Marcus at Willow Bend gave me a FREE make over for myself, flowergirl and maid of honor and did a AWESOME job but I just had to purchase something..

Good Luck and have fun.
I did NOT like David's Bridal they were a little pushy but I got there bridesmaids dresses and flower girls dresses.

The Brides dress was at Terry Costa under 500.00 and it was ABSOULUTELY BEAUTIFUL. They are located at 635 E and Preston on the shopping center on the South West side.

The Tux's were at King Tux in Addison off of Alpha next to DSW Shoes.

Have fun and Good Luck

J.:
I found the flowers from florists to be outrageously priced. We got married a year and 1/2 ago and I ordered about 200 roses from www.costco.com. They came very well packaged and at a great price. I then went to www.bigrose.com - look at the bottem left and click on "wedding"; this pulls up a site that has a video instruction on making a bouquet and boutonniers. Then, for the flower arrangements at the church and reception, I went to Ikea and got nice but inexpensive ceramic white vases and then went to Costco and bought a couple of bunches of flowers for each vase. The bunches are pretty full and cost $14.99 a bunch. I took the chance the day before the wedding and had to go with what they had but everyone commented on how beautiful they were. If you don't have a Costco membership, you will need to buy one but it is way better than paying the florist price for flowers. If you send me an email at ____@____.com I can send you pictures of the arrangements, my bouquet, and the boutonniers. At the worst case, I would say do not buy boutonniers - watch the video and just buy a few roses from a local store...they are SO easy to make. Hope this helps.

I got married at the Guest Lodge at the Cooper Aerobics Center. The prices are reasonable, the grounds are spectacular, great for either indoors or outdoors, or a combination. The food is very good. You do supply your own beer & wine, and they serve it for you. Service was outstanding. If you have out of town guests its perfect because they have hotel rooms on premesis. Very nice! The honeymoon suite is beautiful. They also have a spa there that you can get massage, nails done, etc. They do a very nice job, and like I said, I can't imagine a more beautiful place to get married in Dallas. The wedding planner there is Dianne Lester - phone number is ###-###-####.

We supplied our own beer & wine and got it cheap at Sams Club!

We had the best cakes ever from Radford Cakery. I tasted at several places - I also like Delicious Cakes, but Radford I thought was better and a lot less expensive. They did a beautiful job.

Also - I did my invitaions from Party City and they were awesome and cheap!

For bridesmaid dresses I went to Macy's and got beautiful dresses off the rack. They were on clearance for only $20! I lucked out, but I had been a bridesmaid 7 times, spent $150-$350 on each dress and never wore them again. Go the dept store route - much cheaper than a bridal shop.

If you go with Cooper's, Dianne has a lot of great suggestions as far as florists, photographers, bands, Dj's, etc. She knows everyone!

I hope this helps!

My husband and I got married last summer. I absolutely loved where we got married and my vendors. We were well under $20K, but we only had 60 ppl attend. The number of guests is what ups your budget.

Our wedding: http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?Uc=2id51t77.c5o...

Location: http://www.venetianterrace.com/
Prices are on the site. We stayed at the Omni across the street and took a gondola to the hotel after the ceremony.

They do not let you take in your own alcohol, but we had a 3 course meal and a cash bar. Since my husband and I don't drink that much and neither do our immediate families.

The place made all the food which was great and the cakes. Unlike other places, we had the whole place for the whole day, not 4-5 hours like most other reception areas.

I designed my flowers and Bouquets and Banquets provided the actual bouquets.

I created the center pieces and made my own veil.

I got the rice bags off ebay CHEAP and better than you can make since you can get the draw string bags for a lot less than michael's. Each week I would look for the 40% off coupon for Michael's and get my rice hearts to toss.

If you need any other information, just give me a shout.

I hope this helps!
