you don't have to wear a dress! you can wear pants/slacks to a wedding. just dress them up a bit so you feel (and look!) more formal than usual.

as for pantyhose, you could wear some cute tights instead - there are all of these cool designs available now. the key is to get the right size! don't trust the sizing chart on the back - unless you are skinny, which i'm not, generally you need to get a size bigger than what they're recommending. sometimes tights that are supposed to be my size won't even come all the way to my waist! so if you're not sure, get a couple sizes and then return the ones that don't fit (even if it's open they have to take them back, i think, cuz there's no other way to try them on).

good luck and have fun!

I don't think it's wrong to wear pants to a wedding but if you want to go the dress route you could go with a simple all one color dress and wear cute tights with designs (not fishnets). They make polka dot and rose designs.

Wear what you feel comfortable in and that doesn't sound like a dress! Pants are fine for a wedding. If you are absolutely stuck on the idea of wearing a dress, maxi dresses are in right now, and since they're long you don't have to worry about hose. Old Navy has a bunch of cute ones. If you want a short dress go for tights. I would not do colored or nude tights.

Since you are trendy you probably have a pair of cigerette pants or full leg trousers in your closet most likely black or dark colored. Just wear a top with some sparkle to it. A little bling on a top can take you a long way, whether it's crystals, sequins or a top with shimmer. Do your make up and nails and wear heels and it's a done deal. People who wear clothes they would never normally wear always look uncomfortable. You want to have fun so be comfortable and glam at the same time. Have a great time!!!

I rarely wear hose either. Do you have a long skirt?
I also like the long flowy pants that you have to look at twice to realize they are not a skirt.

I often wear pants to a wedding. I have a pair that is a nice, formal, feminine pair that I often get compliments on. If it's not you to wear a dress, then don't.

But if you really would like to wear a dress, I find that I like tights more than pantyhose. They are meant to have color, they are more opaque so no one can truly understand how pasty white I am (they may mistake me for a ghost!), and most of the time they have nice control built in, too.

I am going to give lots of options, I am one of those horrid people who always notices what people are wearing so...please take this with the humor it is intended. You are going to look fine whatever you wear, be yourself and have a good time.

That said, in my opinion, if I was dressing myself for a wedding:
If the wedding is in a Chapel of a Church wear a dress, if it's an evening service with lots of bridesmaids and tuxedos, long train, etc...wear a dress. The more formal the wedding the more you will stand out if you dress differently than the others attending. If you are sitting up front and the crowd is large wear something suitable. A very nice, dressy, pants suit would be acceptable to me if it was worn with heels, make up nicely done, nails painted/manicured, and nice jewelry to make it look like you made an effort.

If the service is less formal then you can get away with more causal attire. I have a very dear friend who hates her ankles, she is in her 50's and feels self concious every time she shows them when wearing a dress. She takes pains to avoid it. She wears lots of dresses for Church and other activities so here's some things she does. She wears boots in winter, tall leather like boots. They even have boots at Wal-Mart right now and Penneys too. If you just don't have boots or don't want to wear them then think about the longer skirt option. You can wear a longer skirt, knee highs, and some nice shoes and then your legs won't stand out. I wear dresses and panty hose all the time, I am comfortable in them. But then again, I wore dresses and suits with heels and panty hose to college, every day...lol.
