Wahm's -- How Many Hours per Week?

Mine varies according to how busy we are and the time of the month as far as payroll, tax reports, etc.

I probably put in a good 5 hours a day (including Sat/Sun) but not all at the same time, such as 9-2, etc. It is spread out over the day. So I would average about 35 hours a week specifically working on my company at home.

Our business is not s typical 9-5 job because we do have warehousing, we do deal with trucking companies and those things don't always happen on a M-F.

We are hoping to move our home offices to an outside office so that we can keep the work at work because we both tend to work on the company if we ever have any down time.

We love running and owning our own company but it is a lot of work and pressure because you cannot make mistakes or it can cost you thousands of dollars. At the same time, it is very rewarding to see something you build from ground up expand like this has and provide so well.

My schedule varies every week. There are some weeks I put in 15 hours and there are some weeks I put in 50. Because of my job (recruiting) my schedule depends upon the number of openings I have and my clients demands....on the average? I would say 30 hours a week.

I have people starting their new jobs on Monday so I am working this weekend just to make sure they are all taken care of with any last minute questions.

Curious - why do you ask?

I'm on a 30hr a week work schedule: four 7.5 hr days Mon through Thurs.
I don't get paid overtime, clocking in more hours than I'm scheduled for is discouraged, and there was an ethics thing about not working more hours than you're suppose to.
Basically the 30 hrs a week thing has saved my job because budget wise I can be fit into slots that they just can't fit a 40 hr per week person into.
I retire in 15-17 years.
For social security purposes (since we're not getting raises anymore (haven't had O. in 5 years (but the CEO's compensation tripled in that time)) and since they calculate based on your 3 highest earning years) I'll need to go back to 40 hrs a week for my last 3 years.

I used to work 20-25 which felt like alot while homeschooling (we utilize tutors too).

I finally stopped about 2 years ago. It just felt like I never had any free time.

I'll go back to it once I get my younger son through high school - sooner if he dual enrolls at our local university.

I work in the mornings, from around 8-12, so 20 hours a week. I'll be expanding my hours when our youngest starts 1st grade in the fall, working until around 2:15 pm.

I work 8 am to 4:30 pm M-F

I have a FT job which includes 2 days in the office and the rest at home. I work 50-60 hours a week. Much of the extra time is between 10 PM and 1 AM after a 9-10 hour day. I'm salaried so I don't get paid for the overtime.

I work about 30-40 hours a week, and am a merchandiser so about three fourths of that is time spent working in the stores, the rest is reporting it and uploading the photos at home. I can flex my hours to accomodate my family's schedule for the day, so that is the most important thing.

I probably put in about 10-15 hours of work each week at home on accounting, making up our next menu, looking up and trying out new recipes, advertising and marketing, and scheduling reservations/general correspondence with our customers. Every two weeks I spend O. full day on the road shopping (we have to go out of town to get many of our ingredients) and then about 12 hours on prep work and 6 hours serving and cleaning up for each event.

My job is so unusual, I don't know anyone else who does what I do, so I don't know what is considered normal. I know I never could have pulled it off before all the kids were in school.

When in school- 10hrs of class time, and about 5 hours a day studying (while kiddo slept)

When writing - 1 weekend a month (my mum would take my son for a weekend). I can do apx 100p in a weekend, 30 publishable... But I'm the type of writer who needs to do 100:30

When teaching (other people's kids... I also homeschooled my own... But would do microbiology and anatomy&physiology for 7-12 yos), about 10-20 hours of prep for 4 hours of class

I work 7 hours per day 5 days per week. Sometimes if the workload gets higher or we need a bit of extra cash I will up it to 8 hours.

I have had to fiddle with my schedule quite a bit over the last 4 years (when I started working from home). During the school year, I do half the shift in the morning and half at night once my husband gets home. Right now I am trying to do 5 am-10 am and then 5 pm to 7 pm so I can enjoy a bit more time with my family in the evenings. It is really hard!

I would be interested to know what other WAHMs do for a job and how they make it work with little kids at home. Perhaps I will post my own question!

I work from home, 20 hrs a week. Why do you ask?

I work Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. I get a half hour for lunch and 2 15 minute breaks. I keep a formal office and once my day is over I shut down the computer and close the office door. Set hours and treating the job the same as when I worked in a formal office help balance work with home life.

I have approx 4-5hrs of work each night (7 days/week). Some nights are more, like during tax prep. Other nights are less, like when boss is on Jewish holiday. But the average is 115 billable monthly hours.

I only work PT, about 20 hours a week.

Last year, when my son was in school 3 days a week, I did around 32 hours/week, which was pushing it a bit, but still gave me a little room to breathe.

This year my son is in school 5 days a week and my hours have been averaging over 50, which is just too much. It means I HAVE to work every day. I should be doing some work right now. I have very little free time lately. I'm hoping in the next couple months I can get back down to 40 - 45 hours/week tops.
