Virtual Hand Holding (Amnio Tomorrow)

Hi Folks,

Although normally I don't let things phase me for some reason every time I think about my Amnio appointment tomorrow I get stressed.

I had it before with my daughter (now 4) and don't remember feeling like this... Maybe because with her I already had a positve on a screening test (turned out to be false postive) so there was not a level a worry, I was already prepared... I dont know.

Just really stressed and having a hard time focusing.... Seriously the next week or so while I am waiting for the results... I don't even want to think about it....ugh...

I am sure I will get my equilibrium back, just need to give myself a little time... just not working for me yet... I know that whatever happens it is out of my control and worrying won't help... but right now I can't seem to internalize that easily as normal...

Any way thanks for letting me vent a bit.... how would you handle this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

ETA - In the land of Murphy's law, my husband is going to be with our daughter on a field trip. It was supposed to be yesterday with me going but it got rained out. So he goes on the field trip and I have a friend taking me (a Mom of one of my daughter's friends).

I'll hold your hand. Sometimes life's just stressful and you can't always pull up your big girl britches fast enough. I'd probably immerse myself in my toddler and try hard to ignore the whole thing. You can't change the situation whatever it may be and you can't hurry up the results through worrying. I get quiet when I get stressed so for a fairly quiet person I'd be doing my impression of a rock. :) Good luck and many well wishes with a sprinkling of happy, stress free thoughts/vibes.

I hear ya'!

I felt the same way with delivery of my younger son. I had been thru 2 epidurals, one delivery vaginal & the other a c-section. You wouldn't think the thought of anesthesia would bother me! But it did. :)

We are so h*** o* ourselves when it comes to anticipating fear & pain. Say some prayers, love on your family, & find a point of peace for yourself! Prayers to you!

You'd have to be a zombie to not be stressed . . . go easy on yourself. How about a bit of retail therapy? Seriously, I think you need to plan some meals out and quiet time at night with a good book. Tell your husband or mom (if she's available) that you could really use some extra time & nuturing over the next week.

Good luck - thinking about you!

I know just how you feel. Try to think positive. Like, everything's fine and you're just waiting for confirmation (which is most likely the case!). As you already know, it's out of your hands, so there's no point in stressing. (Easier said than done. I know.)

Try to keep busy and put it out of your mind. And think of how much better you will feel when this is finally all over!

Best, best, best wishes to you! And remember, probability is on your side. Chances are that everything is fine!

I had Amnios with both my pregnancies.
It was fine.
My Husband was there with me.
The procedure itself went fine.
Just cramping and I went home to rest.

I know the waiting is hard, but just try to relax.

Is someone going to be there with you?
