I am looking for a caring and affordable vet in the McKinney area for my cats. One of my cats has had ongoing stomach issues for a long time. The vets I have gone to in the past have dismissed the issues, so I am looking for someone that will take the time to really get to the root of the problem and hopefully not cost a fortune. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have also been taking my cats to Dr Dana and her staff at the Cat Hospital of Collin County in Allen. www.cat-hospital.com She deals specifically with cats, so her entire focus is knowing them, their behaviors and their illnesses. Cats can hide being sick, so you need someone who really understands them. Best wishes!

Dr. Donna Gage at Running Paws Pet Hospital off of 380 and 5 is fantastic. It's just her so you'll never see another vet (although she does confer with colleagues, so second opinions are possible!) and she cares for each of her patients deeply. She reasonable in price and will work with you. We LOOOOVE her. ###-###-####

K., we have a vet that we LOVE! He's in Lucas, so may be a drive for you - but he is very efficient and puts the animals at the top of his list for caring! His name is Dr. Kendell.

We have been very happy with Chastain Vet - located on Custer, between El Dorado and Virginia.

Go to my website, www.AllCritterSitter.com and go to REFERRALS (it's a tab up top), scroll down to the Vets and 380 West Animal Clinic. Dr. Shelton is excellent, his prices are a 1/3 of what I was paying at another McKinney Vet, and I refer ALL of my clients to them!

I don't know how he is with cats, but I love the doctor at 380 West Animal Hospital. He is wonderful and listens to my concerns. I tend to be paranoid about my dog's health and he is never dismissive. I come from Virginia where vet bills are extremely high, so I think he is reasonable. When we went for my dog's allergies, we paid $59 for the appointment, food supplement and special shampoo. In Virginia, we paid $52 just for the visit.

We love Dr. Taylor at Highlands Eldorado Veterinary Hospital. We've been taking our animals there since we moved here in Dec 2000. We have 2 dogs, one that has Addisons Disease. It was quite an ordeal trying to figure out what Bailey had and then getting the treatment right. I also had a cat that developed lupus disease. It was very traumatic for me, esp being pregnant at the time, but Dr. Taylor and his staff have always been caring and compassionate. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great "bedside manner" with the animals. I never felt that he was trying to rip me off like some Vets in my past have either. He really understand that everyone has their limit with animals.

He's located at Highlands Drive and Eldorado Pkwy, kitty corner to Calloways. ###-###-#### www.hevh.net

I completely second April, King Vet Clinic. You won't find better prices and more caring doctors. It's a husband/wife team. My daughter went to preschool with one of their kids and that's how we started with them. I had an older cat, 15 years, have problems last year. while there I mentioned that I call my cat "Bulimic Bailey" because he throws up all the time and can't have a bit of milk without throwing up. They figured it out and he hardly ever throws up anymore. I've tried others in town, and like these guys the best.

I'm with Sheryl and like Chastian Vet Clinic on Custer, North of Eldorado. I've had issues after hours which involved me taking my cat to the 24 clinic off Custer, just south of 121 (great after hours clinic BTW) and the on call doctor got back to me promptly on a Saturday night at midnight. I'm happy with their care and service.

Go to Cat Hospital of Collin County, they are off Stacy and 75. The best vets I've ever met in 38 years - they spend extra time with you when needed, especially when getting a history of your pet, and they specialize only in cats. They taught me how to take care of my cat when he got diabetes, and they take a LOT of time to get a thorough background of your cat's life and of your capabilities in caring for your cat. They LOVE cats! They have cats living on their premises, and are the best vets I've ever met in my life. Here's a link to their site: http://www.cat-hospital.com/ Tell them Gabby, Bully's mom, referred you. I would love for them to know how highly I think of them.
