Vacuum Cleaners.... - Frisco,TX

Does anyone have an opinion on vacuum cleaners? Seems like we go through one every couple of years. The Dysons seem pretty pricey... are they worth it? What about the Shark... much more in my price range but will it work longer than a year? Do you have one that you just love that is easy to use and works well? I'm a little of a neat freak when it comes to the floors and we have 2 boys and a dog so it gets used often! Any opinions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Dyson Ball, hands down. We have not one regret on the money spent. I LOVE my vacuum! You can use 20% off coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond and save a good chunk of change or Macy's promos/discounts if you have a card with them. It is really one of those things that you get what you pay for. We have a lightweight model (great for me on the stairs) and it keeps up with 3000sq ft home, hardwood, area rugs, carpet. True workhorse, does it all & gets everywhere!

I replaced an electrolux canister vac with an upright Dyson 1 1/2 years ago. I LOVE my Dyson. I have a Golden Retriever and kids in and out of the house all the time. I vacuum 3 times a week and even use it for a lot of my dusting. I love not having to change a bag, my dog sheds so much and I would often have to change bags after every use.

I got a Dyson Drive (has a car attachment that I've never used) about 5 years ago and it was worth every penny! I would replace it with another Dyson (probably the Ball) in a heartbeat if it died tomorrow. Sometimes target does the $50 gift card with the purchase of a Dyson.
I've got tile, carpet and wood floors and it's great on all of them.

Love my purple Dyson... totally worth every penny. If you think about how much you save in bags, it adds up to what you are paying for the vacuum. It comes with all the attachments and some carpet cleaning supplies. It's great!!!

You can use the 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I have owned both the shark and dyson. I bought the Shark first and I really did love it and I used it all of the time, three kids, cats and dogs so it got alot of use. After about four years a piece of the plastic on the bottom of the canister broke. I ordered a new part but never got it because the place that I ordered if from apparently does not take the credit card I used (Visa) and did not let me know until I called to see where the replacement part was. Now I must say the Shark still worked and did a great job you just had to be careful about emptying the canister or you would make a mess. So I went out and bought the Dyson animal vacuume which is also great but is also made of plastic and I have only had it a year I hope that I do not run into the same problem with this one.

I have had my yellow Dyson for six years now. I am very rough on my vacuums and up until the Dyson was replacing them every year. I did have to replace a hose on it it but it was $40 and something I could do myself. It is the hose that comes out of the top and is used with the attachments. I am rough with that as well. I don't see why I can't get another 5 years out of it. I want the one with the ball now because I think it is lighter.

Love my Dyson! I've had it 6 years? Can't remember, but it's been a while.
My son is now 20 and daughter 16 so I've had it during their teen years with all their friends in and out!
I've always had golden retrievers and/or labs and usually 2 at a time, so lots of hair too.
Plus a husband who can be as bad as the kids AND the dogs at times. If you are going through a vacuum every couple of years, look at the Dyson as an investment.

LOVE my Dyson! I have 3 boys and a dog and it is great! I got it on Amazon.com. It was only $300 (DC17 Animal--purple) because it's refurbished. I don't know why it was refurbished (may have just been returned), but it works just fine!

Went to Best Buy and broke down and got a Dyson about a month ago.
I LOVE it! Oh my it's really a good vacuum. I have two dogs, two boys and a cat and a whole bunch of carpet. This thing is so user friendly, even has a nice handle to carry the box when you buy it. Cleans out very easy, handles great, light weight, turns on a dime and cleans the floors great. I was surprised just how much stuff I got out of the floor the first time I used it.
Also there is no adjustment needed to go from carpet to hard floors.
Having the right tools make all the difference in the world. I'm learning that the older I get. lol
So I'm spending more but getting good products that in the long run save me money time and hassle.
Dyson gets my vote!

I finally got a Dyson when it was on massive sale (still on the pricey end of what I was willing to spend) and I really do love it. I have two indoor cats and an almost 5 year old boy and it has made a noticeable difference. I even vacuum the wood floors and and really sucks up the dirt between the planks and. I also notice a lot less dirt accumulating on surfaces during the week as well, so it must be doing a decent job of filtering the air as well.

If you decide you're going to go that route, it's probably worth it to watch the mail for a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond, or hit up Khols when it's on sale or their doing a promotion or something.

Good luck.

I was given a Kirby Ultimage G and I thought it was amazing until I was given an ORECK. It weighs very little and has amazing suction. If I ever have carpet, I am getting an Oreck. My neighbor has the Riccor and her maid refuses to use it because it is heavy and awkward to move the canister around. However it will get under furniture unlike her Oreck.
If you phone a vacuum repair store, sometimes people refuse to pay for repairs and they sell the fixed vacuum at half off.

We've got the Dyson Animal Ball and it is TOTALLY worth every penny! My in-laws got one and we vacuumed with their Oreck and then went over the carpet with the Dyson and were amazed (and disgusted) with how much it picked up. they've had theirs for 3 yrs and we've had our for over a year now.

My friend that owns a vacuum repair shop says the SEBO is the absolute best and run forever. It's German made and cost around $600.00 but is supposed to last forever. I have a Rainbow that I inherited from my Mom. It's 40 years old and still works as well as the day she bought it. The $1200.00 price way back when was VERY expensive but who would have thought it would last this long. It's still going strong! If you're going to pay $50-$100 for a vacuum that's made in China, expect it to last a year or so.....

My two cents!

yes, in my opinion, the Dyson is absolutely worth every penny!!! I have heard people that like their shark too, but I have never had one. We have had our Dyson for about 5 years now, and LOVE IT! Never had one problem, and honestly, I don't expect I will!
