Vacuum and Deodorize?

I have 2 dogs that come inside the house all the time.
I try to vacuum every day or every other day.
We put in new carpet about a year ago and want to try preserve it.
In order to ensure there isn't a "dog smell" when you walk into the house, would you vacuum w/those carpet deodorizers,
baby powder?
I spray Febreeze afterwards.
TIA for any tips.

What can I do next?

Get one of those refills for the plug in room freshners I can't remember what they are there are two different ones I put in my vacuum bag one is flat the other has two sides to it and it makes the whole house smell great everytime. Just look in the deodorizer section at the store I use to get mine at Target.

A friend of mine with a german shepherd started using this and it's made a world of difference. I told my dad about it so he bought some and he's loving it as well. Arm and Hammer product. It's a foam that soaks in rather than the powders that seem to clog up the vacuum and powder is actually bad on your carpet because it's abrasive. Give this a try and see what you think.

Powders smell great but destroy your vacuum and carpets! Beware! Have zerorez clean your carpets regularly. Realistically if you have pets your house is going to reflect it at least a little. They are dirty and smelly and that's just the way it is! You just have to accept it in return for the rewards of companionship. I'm not gonna lie though - I haven't replaced our last dog for this reason. I just got tired of the losing battle. Sorry kids!!

This is the best stuff it's all natural. Febreeze is toxic. Fresh Wave makes candles, carpet powders, gels that absorb odors, etc. I got a sample of it and now I'm hooked. I have dogs and cats so trust me, this stuff is good!

You can buy it at Williams-Sonoma Outlet, Bed Bath and Beyond, Ace Hardware Store or online.

unless you have a REALLY REALLY good vaccuum I would never use any of those powdered deodorizers on your carpet. If you dont pull 100% of the powder out of your carpet, it will ruin the carpet. The grains of powder are sharp and eventually with walking on it and running the sweeper over it, it breaks the fibers down. I would suggest vaccumming a couple times a day and keeping the dogs feet clean when they are on the carpet.
