I need to buy a gift for my daycare providers and need some help deciding what to buy. Would you rather get a 6-pack of Godiva Chocolate bars or a bath and body set? Thanks!

EDIT: some of you mentioned gift cards...would $10/person be OK? $15??

What can I do next?

Worked in schools for years.....

For me the best present was a gift card to Dunkin' Donuts, ALWAYS used every last penny.

Worst present was scented candles or stinky personal products (tehehe). Most candy went to my kids! :(

As an ex preschool teacher I also say neither. A small gift card with a letter of gratitude would be great!

Neither. They get inundated with both. What about a gift card instead? All of my teacher friends rave about gift cards.

ETA: $10, $15 gift cards are super.

Gift card $10. or $15.. either is perfect.

I did a garage sale for our elementary school for the Teachers. They were starting a on campus daycare for their children.. I begged them to clean out all o fthe cabinets of all of those teacher gifts they had never used..

We had 6 ft tables and 4 of them were covered with body stuff. 3 of them covered with mugs.(these were even stacked) some of them still had the "goodies" in them. 4 full of picture frames, 1 with candles and candle holders.. we had a ledge lined up with vases.. And another table with "#1 teacher", "apple" and "school decorated things"..

I asked the teachers what did they actually love the best.. they said thank you notes written by their students and or parents..

I told them some people love giving them something that could be purchased and almost every one of them said Gift cards.. Teacher supplies, craft stores, coffee places, bakeries, restaurants, mall, mani pedi..

EDITED TO ADD: I think $10 is perfectly fine if that's what you can afford. Especially at Starbucks...that's a couple of coffees! :-)
Merry Christmas!

I would just do a gift card to Starbucks or a movie theater. My friend, who is a teacher, came to church the other day trying to give away boxes of chocolate because she got so many from her students that she and her husband couldn't possibly eat them all. She had about 8 boxes with her and said she had 3 times that many at home! I think the items you mentioned are popular gifts and they might be overrun with them, so I try to steer clear of those 2 particular things. You could also get them a gift card to Michael's or some other craft store if you think they like that kind of thing. This way, they can get what they want. Hope this helps!

I would love the Bath and Body set only if you happened to pick a scent I like. Some of the smells make me sick to my stomach :( I think you're safer to get the Godiva Chocolate bars. Really, I would rather have the Dunkin' Donuts gift card Theresa mentioned. Coffee and donuts? Yes, please! :)

I don't like chocolate (Yeah you read that right). And I'm allergic to a lot of perfumes and flowery scents. I would go the gift card route. How about Subway, McD's or a grocery store coupon? Sorry to throw a curve ball your way but just wanted to give other options. I would like pot holders, candles (fruit scent).

Give whatever you can, but $10 to Starbucks will get you 2 or 3 cups of coffee or a complete breakfast.

I'll do daycare for you if you give me the chocolate. Oh, wait... I live in a different state.

(If you do GCs, go for the $15 if you can.)

i think 10 dollars is FINE. i actually have gotten my daughters teacher a 5$ giftcard to a local ice cream shop with a card before. they appreciate anything and it's the THOUGHT that counts. have your kids write a nice note or if they're not old enough have them draw a picture to give with the gift card. you're so sweet to think of them!

I would rather get Godiva Chocolate, I do not like bath and body sets because I am sensitive to the perfume in them, they cause migraines. Many people have sensitivities to perfumes.

bath and body scents have gotten really awful lately - so unless you are certain of their favorite scent I'd avoid that. Giftcards for Starbucks, dunkin donuts, movie theater, bookstore, blockbuster video, etc have all been things I've given over the years. I'd avoid starbucks unless you know they're a fan. I love coffee but HATE Starbucks. When I coached soccer and got one I gave it away. Costco has discount movie theater ticket sets, and I've gotten alot of good feedback with Blockbuster believe it or not - mug with hot coco mix, box of microwave popcorn and a a giftcard to Blockbuster. Cozy on the couch time.

As a dc provider..I would like the chocolate! But you need to know your provider a bit, I guess. Personally I don't like bath/body products as I don't like purfumey/flowery lotions and soaps (my skin and nose both do not!) But chocolate you have to be careful too I suppose. I don't like dark chocolate, so would end up giving that part to my hubby...LOL....everyone has pickiness I guess! LOL
