Update on Problem Neighbor

I had posted a question a few days ago about my problem neighbor. I just wanted to give an update on the whole situation. There has been some improvement which I am so thankful for. The large metal container of trash has been removed and he is the process of removing the rest. No more burning either! So contacting the fire marshall worked. I believe the landlord was notified and he then got with the tenants about it. Woohoo!!

As far as the dogs, they have gotten out one more time since my post and got into my backyard of which I took a picture and have started documenting everything. The dogs have stayed in their fenced in backyard due to being tied to a rope. I think it's rather sad that they are doing that but at least the dogs are staying in their fence for a change. I did also contact the animal control officers by email asking what our rights and responsibilities are as property owners. He did reply saying that yes there is not a leash law in my county but if the dogs were causing issues on other's properties, that something can be done. He asked for an address and my phone number and that he will have someone contact me to discuss it further. However, I have opted to wait a bit to see if we will continue to have issues. So he has one last chance, he just doesn't know it. He is not a person to play nice and I'm not concerned of me or my husband not being able to handle it, I am concerned about our daughter. She has already been a subject to his kids' bullying, so I don't want her to be subjected to worse bullying from them. But trust me if the dogs become an issue again, I will move forward with the animal control option. Oh, by the way, we have opted to not put the electric wired on the outside of our fence. We could be held liable if a child was to get hurt. Had this confirmed by a police officer (who lives on the other side of us). He too is tired of the dog situation as all the other neighbors are.

Now if we could be so lucky, they would load up the rest of their belongings and move.....lol. But for the time being, I'll be happy with the improvements being made. So since I am supposed to ask a question, have you ever had to deal with a bad neighbor and if so, what kind of issues did you have and how did you handle them?

Thanks again for all of your advice to my previous question concerning this and to this! Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

I'm glad that you are getting things done, and feeling a little better about it. Before we moved, we had bad neighbors. They had a turquoise colored trailer, that they put in the middle of their driveway, and put junk and bbq grills and such on top of it. Oh, they'd tie their barking dogs to it too. Anyway, one day they went out of town on vacation. I told my husband that I was going to put an ad on craigslist "free trailer" and put their address on it. haha of course I was just joking but it is terrible what you have to put up with, when you live next to someone with no pride. Good luck to you.

I'm not so sure I would give them another chance regarding the dogs, to be honest. Suppose on their next escape they harm a child?
