my twins slept in their carseat & then their swings for their naps til they were a year old! That was the only place they would sleep. I asked the dr & he said it didn't matter where they slept...you do what works. I promise you they won't be there forever! Take advantage of anything that helps keep you a sane mama! :)

lay them in the bassinet when they are still awake so that they can get used to the feeling.

I would definitely swaddle them tightly, when my twins were newborns I put them in the same crib, hoping they would be comforted by each other. They are 18 months old now and still love being next to each other! Maybe they are happier with their heads elevated due to reflux? It's worth looking into if they are so unhappy laying flat. Good luck, it will get easier :)

try swaddling them & using a wedge or something so they feel the closeness of their confines. Sometimes the wide open spaces of beds will freak kids.

I swaddled mine and put them together in a crib and that seemed to calm them down. I think they just need to be all snugglie to get comfy. They arent used to having a lot of space to move around and when they do they dont like it! Good luck those first few months with twins are hectic-But awesome :)

They will start to break themselves of the habit. Every few days try the bassinet again. If it does not work go back to the carseat. You need your sleep and breaks too, so if this is giving it you to let it go. Don't worry, they won't sleep in car seat forever. :-) Around 12 weeks the are better adjusted to being outside of the womb and may be more willing to sleep in the bassinets then.
Congratualations!

We would put our 2nd son in his bassinet after he woke up for his first feeding -- he slept in his car seat earlier in the evening until he woke for his first feeding. Eventually we just went to bassinet all the time and then crib. It was an adjustment. We did the car seat because he would always spit up and get bad reflux on the earlier evening feeding but not the middle of the night ones for some reason. Good luck!
