Does anyone know how I can make my daughters curtains (that have a lining to prevent fading) black-out curtains? Are there inserts or something that I can get to put with them? The curtains are really cute and I would like to keep them but really need them to be black-out.
Thanks for the suggestions!

My husband found paper black out shades at Home Depot. Really cheap. We use those under the shades and they work great!

I found black out curtains (made of the black-out material) at Walmart. My daughter's curtains are regular sized, 53x84" (or something like that) The black out curtain comes with hook and tabs to place on the back of your curtain, it's not permanent, which I liked. It's not perfect though, light still comes through the sides and top, I think the roll shade that goes on the inside of the window works much better , but they cost a bit more, and I'm renting here, and didn't want to screw holes into the window frame. But if it were my place, I would want to do that instead to get a completely dark room.

My mom and I did this to my daughter's curtains just recently. You can get black out curtain liner cut at the fabric store. Get it cut a bit small than the actual curtain. We attached them the easy cheesy way with iron on velcro. I opted for velcro bc i just wanted the option to take the black out liner off later, just in case. It is MUCH easier than you initially think. :) Good luck!

We have black out curtains and the sun still comes in the sides and top I suggest you look at black out shades for your window then you don't have to do anything to your daughter's curtains :)

You can buy black out material at the fabric store and sew it onto your curtains. We did that to both of my daughters' curtains. The material is easy to work with and pretty inexpensive (I think it was 50% off at JoAnn's both times I bought it...around $12 total). Good luck :)
