You can get pregnant without a period. What you need is to ovulate not shed your uterine lining. Keep track of the thickness of your cervical mucus and when it's thick and sticky, practice with hubby! If an egg has dropped this is prime time for sex.

How long have you been off the shot? An ovulation predictor kit is a good idea, but they can be pricey. Fertility awareness is something you can do with any special kits. Try looking through the library's website for a book on either NFP (natural family planning) or Fertility Awareness. There's also a couple of free websites that can help you too- www.fertilityfriend.com and www.mycycle.com

Hi B.,
i also went on the depo shot after my first son was born ( he is 11 now) and i was on it for 6 yrs and came off of it in o4 and i was trying to get pregnant as well. i didn't have a regular period either for months i would either spot or have nothing. it took about 6-7 months to get a regular period back and it took almost a year to get pregnant after coming off the shot. i hate it now. i have another son he is 8 mons now and went back on depo after he was born and had some complications with it and dedided to stop using it and that was about 3 months ago i cam off it and my period still hasn't returned. i do bleed now and again though. your body is going to have to get used to getting back to normal after being on shot so it may take some time but it will happen and the ovulation kit isn't a BAD IDEA EITHER. IT WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOUR ovulating. good luck and keep trying. miracles do happen but don't stress to much though b/c your body senses that too and it can make it worse in trying to get pregnant being stressed out. well take care and as i said good luck and let us know what happens.

I agree with Kelly...get an Ovulation Predictor Kit and that can help you know when you're ovulating. If you don't have a period, you're likely not ovulating. Also, check out the website tcoyf.com. they have great message boards that can help you out, and if you can, get the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. Depo can really, really mess with your hormones.
You can't FORCE ovulation to happen-it happens when your body is ready, but if you learn how to read your body's very accurate signs it can help.

If you think you are ovulating but just not getting you period, you could try ovulation sticks. They are super cheap and you just pee in a cup then dip the stick and see if there is a little pink line - I bought a whole bunch when I first started trying and it let me know when I was ovulating. I would do one each morning. I bought them online too. Good Luck
