I have had a Mirena IUD since last October - so 5 months now. I have noticed that after having intercourse with my husband, I begin to bleed. Even if my short period ended, I begin to bleed again after intercourse. Has anyone had this happen and knows what is going on? Also, when do my periods start to get more on track. Right now I am having a period every two weeks about. Thanks for any input!
That happens with me as well and my periods are spotty and some times it seems as though I have missed one.
I had a similar problem with the IUD. The doctor said to give it more time but after six months of problems I had it taken out. Stephanie L.
I have had mine for 2 months and I still spot after intercourse too. My doctor says it's a normal side effect tht stops about 6 months in and things get more regular. I got mine put in 6-weeks post partum and bled heavily for several weeks, but turns out that is also normal. It may very well be from putting it in so close to having the baby. So hang in there and use your gut if you think you need to go to the doctor.
I wouldn't stress about it I still had fairly heavy bleeding for the first six months but eventually subsided. I had it taken out in January and got pregnant right away, due in October.
Don't take chances, call your doctor and ask. This is supposed to make life easier, not scarier.
I have an IUD as well. This doesn't sound right. See your doctor.
I took mine out about 2 years ago, but had it in for almost 5 years and had no problems. your irregulartiy could still be from having a baby recently and not the mirena at all. I never had a period while I was on it, and loved that. But in the first months I did spot. But check with your doc to make sure it didnt slip. hope that helps

Call your doctor. It might have moved out of the right position. You should definitely have it checked. I haven't had any problems with mine (in fact, I've started skipping periods) and I've had it nine months.
I have never used IUD's but have a friend who researched them as a possible form of birth control for herself (she ended up choosing not to use them). I can't give you a lot of scientific info on them but one thing she did learn when researching them is that they weaken the uterine lining, so that even if an egg does get fertilized, there is pretty much no chance that it will survive in the uterus. Maybe this weaker lining is contributing to the bleeding? Just a thought.
