Trouble Sleeping - Waconia,MN

Hello, ladies and gents! I need your help.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and I need to sleep in a cold room. (Cool will suffice, but I like it to be in the low 60s.) My husband needs to sleep in a warmer room or the a/c does a number to his sinuses. We have a ceiling fan. I left the temp where my husband likes it and used the celing fan last night. I slept fine... until I woke up in the middle of the night to realize that my husband had turned it off!

How does this achy mommy-to-be get some much-needed rest? And how can we stop the "war of the thermostat?"

What can I do next?

Hubby needs to use an extra blanket, and leave the fan alone. He can always add layers to create more warmth, but you can only strip down so much. My husband likes it cold, I just snuggle in my covers.

Reminds me of "father of the bride 2" where Steve Martin is wearing ski jackets, scarfs and gloves while in the house because his daughter and wife need the ac on at 60 degrees too!! Ha ha. I'd suggest him to wear more clothes at night/bed, you control the temp, lovingly remind him you only have a few weeks left, and buy him a humidifier to sleep next to. The moisture from it will help his sinuses.

Since it is his sinuses that are the issue, try getting a small fan on your side of the bed & have it blow on your face or feet to keep your temp down. The air movement on the your side of the bed should be enough to help you sleep but not too much that it stirs the air on his side of the bed & causes issues with his sinuses.

I had to spend many nights sleeping in another room...often on the couch with the fan on full blast LOL...I found that I did better without the hot body next to me also. Good luck!

You could also consider a dual sided heated mattress pad. He can turn his side on low heat and then you could turn the ceiling fan on for you. Also, maybe it would be helpful to get a box fan for the end of the bed on your side.

Good luck!

turn down the temp and give your husband some extra blankets on his side of the bed. We had to do this and it worked for us. Or maybe get a small fan that only blows on your side of the bed.
