Transvaginal Ultrasound

So I went to the doctor today and had two ultrasounds done (one abdominal and one vaginal). I was fine before I went in but on my way home I started cramping and when I got home I went to the restroom and when I wiped there was what looked to be blood but it was like a faded maroon color (hard to explain), but it was only when i wiped. I have heard that this is normal when you are pregnant but I have yet to get a BFP with a HPT or Blood Test so I'm guessing thats not the case. So is this still normal even though I am not pregnant? Oh and my last period was on February 21, 2009 and it is now April 9, 2009. I'M STILL LATE!!

What can I do next?

Hi,
I believe you are pregnant. Good luck!

The maroon color you saw was what the docs call old blood. It's blood that has been there a while and according to mine was nothing to worry about. I had a vaginal ultrasound done and it made me cramp some and bleed a bit afterwards. I would say call your doc to make sure it's all normal and for peace of mind.

This happened with my vaginal ultrasound while preggers, but I don't have experience with it otherwise. However, I suggest you put a call into your OB if you are concerned and ask her/him the question. It's hard to say what's 'normal' for your body.

As for the period that could be for a number of reasons...stress, workout, diet change or sickness recently. Again, good questions for a professional.

Hi S.-

I've had Transvaginal Ultrasound done both while I was pregnant and not pregnant, and always cramp and bleed a tad afterwards. I don't know why you're period is late though. I'm not regular so I feel like I'm always late!!

It is normal after a vaginal ultrasound, though it shouldn't persist.
