Transportation from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Port of Miami for Cruise

We are flying in a day before our cruise so we will need transportation from the airport in Fort Lauderdale to a hotel near the port. We are also returning home a day after the cruise so we will need transportation from the port to a Fort Lauderdale hotel. Does anyone know a transportation company? Would it be better to use a service or just hail a taxi?

What can I do next?

I would check with the cruise line. I'm sure they could tell you the best way to go, they may even have some recommendations/discounts for local transportation services.

We have flown in occasionally to Ft Lauderdale and just took a cab to our hotel in South Beach. The last time we did that, about 2 yes ago, our cab fare was about $100 including tip.

It's easy to grab a cab. Just tell them where you're headed. If you like the driver, book him in advance to take you back.

This is a Non stress part if the trip!!!

I recall our Cruise company provided or we paid a fee to ride their buses to and from the Airport and our ship.

It is like Disney World. Ask your travel agent or look online with your cruise.

I would look I to the shuttle vans that they have at the airport. You can look online. It's 30 miles to the port. That can be expensive by cab. Is your hotel in Port of Miami or Ft. lauderdale! Just saw you are staying by the port. Super Shuttle would be your best bet. You can call or make reservations on line. Have fun.

We stay at the homewood suites in Dania Beach. Lots of cruisers there. The hotel picks you up as part of their amenities. It's a nice place to stay and they offer port transportation. I know there's no charge from the airport to the hotel (I always tip the driver). I don't know about the charge to the port though. They always take the cruisers in a large bus with a trailer attached for the luggage. You could call and ask. Www.homewoodsuites.com.

Have fun!

Hi V.,

I'm from NOVA - but live near the port in Fort Lauderdale. There really aren't any good public transport options - the rail system doesn't go to the FLL airport or the Port of Miami. Crazy!

SUPER SHUTTLE DOES NOT PICK UP FROM FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. They can only pick up. So you would need either a private car service or a taxi cab. Royal Caribbean partners with a company called LimoRes - but I would guess that most of the cruise lines partner with someone. If you happen to be going on Royal, here is the site: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentWithHero.do?pagename...

Depending on how much time you have, you could rent a car if there are locations near the port. Or Supershuttle to get you from airport to cruise. Check with the hotel to see if they have a shuttle to pick you up.
