Well Im looking into maybe becomming a medical transcriptionist. I have always worked in the medical field piror to having my child and figured this would be easy to learn and something I can do from home. I dont know where to start though. Is any one certified in this field. I want to get the schooling and be certified but cant really find anywhere but the online schools (I dont know a clue about those so I dont want to get ripped off you know). Well if anyone has any inpput Id love to know.

What can I do next?

I had a friend that did this and said it was a pain as he was never able to not have to be in continous ed classes cause there were always new things to learn about it. He said he was speadning way too much time and $$$ in school all the time to make it worth it for him and that there was ALOT to memorize. Thats all I know about it.

Hi C. (never got your private message about the job from before, I think MMSRC was having tech issues) Anyway, my friend went to that school that's right near Meachum/Beach, 35/820. For the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Oh wait, it was Everest College and she went there for billing and coding. You might want to call and see if they offer it there.

Hi C.,
I'm going through Tech Skills to get a cert. in medical transcription. (They also have billing and others) They are great. You can do your work at the facility or from home. You test around once a week. They would prefer you to test at the facility, but if need be you can remote test (from your house). All together it's about a 24 wk certificate. A friend of mine just graduated last week and they are helping her w/ job placement. Here is their information: phone ###-###-#### located at: 4100 Int'l Plaza Bldg 2, Suite 110, Fort Worth, TX 76019. They are really helpful and very, very nice. I've had a few "family emergencies" arise and they have helped me w/ a schedule to get back on course. They are really great. Let me know how it goes....
