Has anyone done the trade in at BRU? I was going to try to take my little guy's current car seat and take advantage of their trade in event where you can get 25% off a new one. I am looking for a convertible car seat. He will be 1 on September20 and I have decided to keep him rear facing for a while longer. Two part question: 1) is a convertible car seat worth the investment, 2)is the trade in a good deal or can you get a better deal elsewhere? (BRU does seem to have a limited selection availalable instore, and you can't do the trade in online). Thanks for the feedback.

What can I do next?

Be sure you know comparable prices ahead of time.... my daughter was going to do that, but didn't have a car seat to trade in, but a friend had a 20% off coupon.

She found the car seat she wanted, but the price at BRU was so much higher, that she ultimately found the same car seat on Amazon at LESS than the final price after the 20% or 25% discount she would have gotten.... She does have Amazon Prime, so there was no shipping charge on it, though.

Good luck!

Yes, you do need that convertible car seat...I'm not sure what you'd move your son to after the infant seat if you don't. He'd be too young for a booster...

I read somewhere (VERY) recently that BRU intentionally raises their prices to counteract any coupons or sales. The person who wrote this actually said the manager admitted it to her. Found her facebook post, here is what she said:

"I will never shop at babies r us ever again... The manager just admitted to me that they raise their prices to counteract their coupons they mail out ... They would not honor a price match and then their store coupon... Forget it ... So beware, even if you have coupons for them... The prices are higher so you might as well just shop at a closer store!"

So I would definitely cross check prices, just to make sure you get a decent deal.

I just did the trade in this past Friday and it was my first time doing it. I think I got a pretty good deal. I was hoping to get a Britax since I had my eye on it for a while but ended up getting a Graco instead since Britax was not on the selected list to use the 25% coupon. I price matched with BRU website to get a better deal. I got the Graco Nautilus, it was listed as $180 in the store, but online it was on sale for $150 plus my 25% coupon, I paid about $120. Not bad for my last car seat that I'll buy for my daughter. Make sure you go through the BRU website to price match. They don't do competitor's price match, just their own website. Hope that helps!

It's nothing more than a 25% off sale. Just look at what their prices would be at 25% off and compare it to other places/sites. Most likely their prices are high to begin with so it's not really a good deal (other than them throwing away your old car seat for you.)

Yes, know your prices. I only buy Britax car seats and usually find them cheaper online with free shipping. When I say cheaper, I mean the BRU price minus a 20% coupon.
