Tipping at Bed and Breakfast? Sending Thank You?

My hubby and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast over the weekend. We had a wonderful time and the host went above and beyond our expectations. I didn't think about leaving a tip until after we had left. Should I do something now? Send a quick thank you card? Suggestions?

Do you tip when you go to a Bed and Breakfast?

What can I do next?

I would send a little thank you card with a generous tip in it thanking her for going above and beyond for you!

The age old etiquette rule is you tip for any service you receive. IE your hair dresser, the waiter, the person bringing up the extra pillow or room service, the concierge at the hotel who gives you directions or books you tickets to a show.

So if they offer you a service then you are suppose to. Although, anymore I doubt very many people even bother with such things. My parents always use to tip the maids, of course the bell hops and anyone who brought anything to our room. Someone who did a service for us. I follow the same guidelines. If I'm receiving a service I tip. Even when I got my piercings I tipped the piercer.

I've never been to a B&B but I would send a thank you note with a bottle of wine (if you think the host would appreciate that kind of thing.)

Use http://www.wine.com/ and they'll do it all for you. All you do is fill out the card, pay they package and ship it.

I'm not sure about a tip (?) but I'm sure they would appreciate a thank you.
And I bet they would REALLY appreciate a positive review on yelp and/or tripadvisor!

My in-laws run a B&B and they've never mentioned tips before. They do love getting thank-you notes, though. Also, take the time to write a good write-up for your B&B on TripAdvisor.com.
