I know this has probably been asked before, but my search turned up nada. I have apples out the you know what and would like to prepare an easy dessert using minimal ingredients.

I'm not the best baker so an exact recipe would be helpful. :)

So, does anyone have a tried and true apple dessert recipe? Thanks in advance!

I cannot say enough about the ease of apple crumbles.
My mom has a recipe, but it is at my house. here is a link to a similar one.
I will say I do not use nuts nor lemon juice and we sprinkle some of the topping in between the apples. Oh and I don't take the skin off. I know not everyone likes that, but I do:)
So YUMMY!

Apple Mystery (it's a mystery b/c it's random, but delicious!)

-Chop a enough apples to fill 2" of a glass baking dish
-Drain a can of pineapple and chop it, then spread on top of apples
- Use a box of yellow cake mix (dry) and pour it over the whole thing
- Dot with butter and bake at 350 until the top is bubbly and looks cooked through (about 30 minutes)
- top with toasted walnuts and serve with Cool Whip

A simple favorite of mine...and healthy!

2 medium sweeter apples, such as Granny Smith or Rome.
1/4 cup of raisins
1 tables spoon of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamin
1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4-1/2 cup of apple juice

Serving over ice cream is optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Core apples and peel the skin off just the the top of the apple. Place apples in a oven safe casserole dish. 2 quart works well. In another bowl, combine raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg. Spoon mixture into apple centers and pour apple juice over apples. Bake the apples at 350 for 40 -45 minutes or until apples are tender. Basting occasionally keeps the apples moist. Serve warm with icecream.

This is the type of apple dessert my family loves. I serve it with frozen yogurt or ice cream.

Slice as many apples as you plan to eat and put in a microwave safe bowl. Sprinkle with a little bit of brown sugar, some nutmeg and a lot of cinnamon. Put a few pats of butter on top. Cover and Microwave for a 2-4 minutes until soft. Serve with whip cream or ice cream. Doesn't get any easier.

You could even core the apples and put the ingredients inside.

Fried apples! Apples, butter, cinnamon, sugar -- it doesn't get any simpler!

Or baked apples-- core the apples, place in a buttered baking dish and then everyone gets to stuff the hole of their apple-- brown sugar, cinnamon, red hots, raisins, whatever sounds good, then bake at 350 until soft!

I use this recipe I got in my jr, high cooking class. It is a family favourite.

Apple Crisp

¾ cup flour
½ cup brown sugar
fg salt
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ cup margarine
4 apples, peeled and cored.

Mix first six ingredients until they are the texture of crumbs. Place apples in ovenproof dish and top with crumb mixture. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

I serve it plain, or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

For the holidays I add a cup or two of fresh or frozen cranberries. Sometimes I will throw in blueberries, raspberries, peaches or saskatoons. Whatever I have handy. I will also throw a half cup of oatmeal into the crumb mixture if I feel like it.

In the fall when we get lots of apples (I have neighbours with apple trees, and they give us lots) I peel, core and slice the apples and freeze them so I have them ready to use.

I second the crumble idea.

Just dice up your apples and put them in a pan w/some butter and brown sugar and cinnamon to taste, on low heat and cook them till they get a little soft. Then transfer them to a buttered baking dish and throw the oats and brown sugar and butter mixture over the top and bake and you have an amazing dessert. Serve with vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream. Yum!

An apple crumble is great, kind of like apple pie without the extra work of making crust. I always make mine in a muffin tin--single serving, served with vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Peel and slice. Cook in a skillet with some butter, cinnamon, and then add sugar- either granulated white or brown. If you add apple pie spice, it'll be like pie filling. You can either serve it by itself or over some vanilla ice cream. Mmm...enjoy!
