Hi all! I'm thinking about getting a TENS unit, both for menstrual pain now and for use in labor next time. Anyone have one they love? Used one they hated? Any info is helpful.
TIA

So What Happened?

Someone on Cafemom offered to send me hers! Thanks for the input. And Tiffany - that's so weird! Just goes to show how far behind the rest of the world our OBs are when it comes to the safe, natural ways to deal with pregnancy and labor pain:( Hope s/he's better educated now!

We bought the Wellness Pro off of our Naturapathic doctor in Pataskala, Ohio. Their website is www.electromedtech.com. I should clarify that, the website for the machine not my doctor's website. I have used it once for cramps and it worked very well. Unfortunately, we haven't had the machine very long, a month to be exact, so I was able to use it for labor. Our children are 4 and 2 yrs. old. We love it!!! Our dr. set us up on a "maintenance" schedule and I do feel better. We love it! Hope this helps, good luck!

S.,
I used to work for a medical company that sold TENS units. I can't remember much about brands specifically. The reality is, the lower the price, the less comfortable to wear. People described some of the lower-end units as "stingy, or bitey" not as smooth or a sensation. Hard to explain, unless you try some. I would get a mid-range unit. If you go to a medical supply store that sells them, they should be able to tell you what units people like most and which ones they don't. Then you could order from them, or online or something.

I never would've thought to use it for labor! I have a TENS unit and I love it. It works wonderfully on my muscle spasms. (I have hideous muscle spasms...in the hospital for 3 days kind.) So, the fact that it helps ME, is quite a testament to it's ability. Drs had me on morphine before this.
The one I have now, is actually my second. I have used it for menstrual pain,it helped that, too. About 7 yrs ago, I blew out my knee..I used it for a pain block then. Amaaaazing> my quality of life improved tremendosly!
