T JFF: Do You Have a Night That You Claim as "Yours", and What Do You Do?

So I was thinking about the fact that DH has every other Wednesday as his for band rehearsal. This is all well and good except I need to come up with a night for me, especially since I'm the one to rock DD to bed every night.

Sometimes i feel as if I should look forward to something like this but the sad thing is I wouldn't know what to do. My good friends and family live out of state and I'm not close enough with my mom's club mates, yet. So I'm thinking of joining a bowlinig league!

So if you have a designated night, what is your plan.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have so got to get over my "me time" guilt and speak up. The only time DH puts DD to bed is when I'm not home, rarely!

Yes. Friday night is my night.

I go out with my girl friends. We have dinner. Maybe go to a movie. Tonight Pam and I are going to the Sweet Water Tavern for their delicious chicken tenders!!

If I decide to not go out - I am home - but I am invisible to my family. Husband takes care of the kids, dinner, etc. I am a ghost and not to be bothered. IF I choose to watch a movie with them - great - if not - i'm a ghost!

I work two jobs, and Friday night is the only night of the week that I am off work AND have the house to myself for several hours. I do whatever the hell I feel like doing at the moment. Sometimes that means going out, sometimes it means cranking up the stereo and dancing naked i the living room. .

Lol!!

I was just recently looking forward to going to the hospital to have my baby because they will be doing the cleaning, bringing me the food.

Wow that's pretty sad.

I have either a parent or board meeting at preschool or a PTA meeting three out of the four Wednesdays each month and there is a group of moms from each group that go out for late night happy hour afterward. It's the best!

Sunday night is "dad's night" which means that's my night off. He's in charge of dinner (shopping for it, cooking it and cleaning up.)
So I usually take off for at least a few hours on Sunday afternoon, go to the movies or out for a walk with friends, go shopping, basically do whatever I want!
I think joining a bowling league sounds fun, you should go for it :)

actually life doesn't have to be "fair & equal".

If you don't have a night, don't try to force one upon yourself. At some point in your life, it will be there for you. :)

On the other hand, the bowling league sounds like fun.

I was in a bowling league last year on Thursday nights. It was fun and "my" time. But really, I have TONS of "me" time. And our kids are ready for bed and in their rooms every night at 8pm. They don't have to sleep, but they have to stay in there. So every night hubs and I can get caught up on our shows or whatever, we aren't bothered which is really nice. Even if you don't find something to actually do, get a night that is "yours" where you can be home and hubs is in charge of the kids and you can just take a hot bath and read or whatever and not be bothered. Its great for our mental health! =) Good luck!

Well, for me, my hubby likes to "game" with his nephew, brother and buddy from church every friday night so that sort of leaves me alone which I like. My husband is helpful though before going upstairs to log on, he won't start playing until all three kids are in bed. So I'm lucky in that sense I guess. But every Friday I know that I can either leave and go to an art studio down the street for open paint night, workout, watch all the bridal shows on TLC, catch up my family blog, etc... it's really whatever I want to do and I don't necessarily go with friends, I enjoy my quiet time alone:)

I do book club every other night. last night was the first time I had been in over 8 months.

I am trying to get pregnant with my third. I am so going to do a prenatal yoga class once a week. Hubby will just have to get home. I know I will need that little bit of "me time."

Wednesday night is my bowling night. I haven't quite got DH trained well enough to remember to have our 10 year old son shower before bed, or feed the dogs, but we will get there! A dirty boy on Thursday and hungry dogs when I get home we can live with.
