Do you know the meaning of an arrow facing down or too the ground? Researching and I need all the different meanings for downward facing arrow I can get. Thanks ladies,,,and gents ;D

As in the Native American indian culture the arrow facing down represents peace. In other religions or cultures does the downward facing arrow have a different meaning. I am designing something and want to use a downward facing arrow in the design but wanted to cross ref with you ladies to make sure I am not using a symbol that also means something else. As in if it were a upside down triangle and later I find that this is a symbol that the gay comunity uses. I want to know if wickens, christians, other religions, cutlutres have a meaning behind the downward facing arrow???

What can I do next?

You need to check your first source. There are many nations & hundreds of tribes on these 2 continents alone. Symbolism changes depending on the nation & tribe. The 'Native American people' or idea of a songle culture instead of hundreds, is a white thing.

As far as other cultures... Yup.

Downward facing arrows symbolize prepping for attack (archers stand their arrows into the ground for rapid fire before a battle) in some cultures, and are used in some pictoral writing systems to mean different things (including baptism for some modern US religious groups), as well as some US military units.

In GENERAL, I think arrows are used often enough that you don't have to worry about an immediate reference being made (unless its broken or headless, which is a way used by many cultures to tally the death toll, and in ours to symbolize certain things about bombs).

BUT I would reeally be leery of saying "Downward facing arrows symbolize peace" unless you can reference exactly which tribe or nation follows that.

Can you please post a link to what you are talking about and give a better reference? Is this for math, highway signs or what?

"Down" usually has a negative meaning, like "dislike" or "loser", or if on a t-shirt for example, it could be taken to be pointing at someone's privates and have a sexual meaning in bringing attention to them, at least in my experience, but maybe I am wrong?

In this web site it says that the Indian symbol for piece is a broken arrow whose general alignment is pointing down at an angle. I could get the symbol to copy over here. But the symbol is definitely not a whole arrow pointing down. http://www.warpaths2peacepipes.com/native-american-symbol...

There is a clothing company in Hawai'i that uses the letter U with an arrow pointing down through it, to mean "Are you down (for some crazy s(tuff))?"

But other than that, I have no idea.
