Hi
I am looking for some ideas for my daughters sweet 16 party. It is in feb,but with the halls you have to book months in advance. I wanted to have it out south park but am unable to due to weather this time of year, so i am looking for ideas on halls that are nice south hills area if possible. She wants ppl to dress up at least a lil more than jeans and T's. she wants to wear a nice dress but thats as far as she has said she wanted. I 'd like this to be a very special day for her she is so deserving of it and once i get all the big stuff together i am going to hire a singer to show up and sing her happy birthday.Know she has a lot of friends an family so i want a place so they can dance also.i just have to watch on the distance as some may have to find a way there

What can I do next?

A month or so ago, I had been on the allegheny county parks website looking for activities and events. They have a page with rental info and there are a few buildings (not groves or pavilions) that can be rented. I would assume they rent them year round. If you weren't aware of that, here is the link: http://www.alleghenycounty.us/parks/fees/permit.aspx#south

There is a place in Bethel Park I've been wanting to look into. It looks like a small church on the corner of Brightwood and Lytle next to a T stop and across from the library/municipal building. There is a sign out front saying something about booking reservations for events. I've recently seen the parking lot full and people dressed up. My SIL has been in it. When I see her today I will ask her the name of the venue and what it looks like inside.

Hi H.. I'm not sure what your price range is, but look into The Bradley House. It's in South Baldwin and is a great place to have large parties (we almost booked our wedding reception there, and my mother has had several showers there). The food is good, the staff is very nice, and it's easy to get to.

How about Salvatores, Bradley House or Calabrias? I wonder if the new place near the fairrounds will be open by then? I hear it will be like a Dave & Busters-type place.

Hi H.,

I cannot offer any advice on where to have her party because i am not familiar with your area. However, I just held a sweet 16 for my adopted daughter last feb. We had it at a local restaurant that had a medium size banquet room attached. It was a perfect size. We had a dj there and i had emily choose songs that her and her friends liked so that she would enjoy the music and dance. She choose to have a pink and black theme, that is on the invitations , we asked that the guests wore either pink or black or a combo of the two. All the decorations were pink and black also. She wore a dress in white, so that she would stand out. I think by giving her party a theme first, the plans really follow after. good luck and I hope she has a wonderfull time!
