Summer Fun in South and SW Metro

My cousin and her kids (boy 8 years, girl 6 years) are coming for the week, and my sister and I are trying to think of fun things to do with the kids. We'd prefer not to spend money, or little money, and we'll have my girls (4 and 2) and her kids (boy 4.5, girl 13) as well.

We're up for anything! We're considering something in the Three Parks district (Gale Woods Farm? Lowry Nature Center?) and will probably head to a pool or a lake.

I live in Eden Prairie, and she lives in Lakeville, so anywhere around those areas will work.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

It's going to be sooo hot this week, that I would definitely include a pool day and beach day! The Apple Valley pool is a favorite, and Cascade Bay in Eagan.

I wasn't familiar with Gale Woods Farm, but from their website it looks great!

I live by Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, and we have two beaches, bike trails, kayak/canoe rentals, and a free concert at the bandshell every night.

Kelley Park in Apple Valley has a splash pad that is free. When I googled to find the name of the park, one at Nicollet Commons in Burnsville also came up.

Lebanon Hills Park in Eagan has a free beach as well. I have only been there once, but it was nice.

You live close to Hyland Lake Park Preserve. Chutes and Ladders is an awesome way to spend some afternoons, and it's free. The playground keeps kids of all age groups busy, and there is a "water slide" for those really hot days you are experiencing!

There is a splash pad in St. Louis Park that is free... Otherwise a lot of the parks in 3 Rivers Park District have access to beaches that are free...
