I'm looking for things I can put in my office that can help me manage the daily work place stress such as.....

office plants; I read that putting a plant in your office can help with stress

CD's; I plan to purchase a couple of CD's...any suggestions?? I have a Nora Jones one that I play when I'm stressed out that really helps but need to add to my collection

I have an assortment of herbal tea's in my desk as well.

What can I do next?

A woman at work has a small collection of those magnetic toys. I've been thinking of getting some legos. I used to have this little beach comer thing a friend gave me. It was a small box with a little white sand, a little chair, umbrella, and a rake. It was actually pretty calming.

I'm interested in essential.oils for either dabbing on the skin or just sniffing. I think that might help me.

What a fantastic question, I love these ideas!!

I have an office at home in the corner of our basement playroom and a cube at work. I'm trying to synchronize these as much as possible so that I have the same things in the same place.

For both, I printed out pretty reminder squares (each about 5 inches square) of different soothing colors that list my key deliverables for each day that help make my life smoother but can get lost in the shuffle. I just need to look up for a pretty reminder of what should be at the top of the list after the fires are put out.

I have comfortable headphones at each office and some Amazon Prime Music playlists for the office. Some days it's soothing classical music, other days it's jazz, other days it's Green Day and Metallica, some days it's everything. I like that variety that on-line music provides, and it's free!

Something else I did was bring in a real place setting from home - porcelain plate, real utensils, a real glass - and use that for my lunch. I often eat lunch at my desk and eating a meal from a real plate instead of Tuppeware from home or a take-out container from the caf elevates the experience and is a nice way to bring some extra dignity to the work day.

I have a classroom rather than an office, but it can be terribly stressful. I have a plant and a couple candles. I need my surroundings to be beautiful, so I have lots of color in my room. Students have painted most of the ceiling tiles, and I have some lovely art posters from museums on the walls. Pretty curtains are on the windows.

I often play music. One thing that helps a ton is staying incredibly organized. Clutter stresses me out.

On Tuesdays a group of us does yoga in the classroom across the hall after school.

I have plants, one that is known throughout the office for its climbing.

I am in the process of finding a shadow box deep enough to hold a hip flask. I will then put a placard on it saying in case of emergency break glass. Our COO doesn't need to know it has rum in it

add some dark chocolate to that herbal tea collection :)
squeeze stress ball.
Really like The Piano Guys CD. It's weird but for me also listen to Christmas instrumental station on Pandora and close my eyes, I LOVE the Christmas season, so I close my eyes and think of happy memories.
Potted plant or potted flower.
Get one of those inspirational quote a day calendars.
Set an alarm for meditation time/prayer time. Just few minutes.
I like the corner beach idea too!
Good Luck,

Do you have your own office or do you share?
i have my own, so I set an outlook reminder for every day at 2pm. At that time, I do 6minutes of yoga (I have a 6 minute youtube video saved). My work is crazy hectic, but there is nothing that cannot wait 6 minutes, and it really helps with stress.

Might be a bit awkward if you share an office though, unless you can talk your office mate into joining you.

For CDs, I personally find James Taylor relaxing.

small water fountain for sure.
a pretty bowl full of 'soothing stones', tiny crystals that you can run your fingers through. they magically de-stress!
a small spritzer of water with a few crystals in it. a literal cool-down translates beautifully to your psyche.
keep a picture of a baby cracking up in your desk drawer. you don't want it out all the time or it fades into the background, but if you only look at it occasionally it will practically force you to smile. alternately put a 10 second recording of a baby laughing on your computer and hit it when your blood pressure starts to rise.
or tom hiddleston gazing directly into your eyes and telling you he will be the first man to kiss you. i can't say it doesn't raise my blood pressure, but it DOES distract me reliably.

I like having a small water thing on my desk. It soothes me when I hear it or smell the water.

I have one very similar to this one. It doesn't splash so my paperwork and patterns are safe...

Danny Wright is an amazing pianist. He has many instrumental CD's. My favorite is called Phantasy. Michael W Smith has an instrumental CD called Freedom that I also love. I find both of those CD's to be very relaxing when I need to escape.

I work from home and my office is our MIL suite. Since I do not share personal office space I am more detailed and probably would not be able to have things the way I do if I were in a corporate office like I was years ago in marketing at a major snack food company.

It is SO easy to just come in and let things pile up in my office since it is right off the hallway from coming into our house from the garage. I get stressed out over that. My hubby has boxes of literature, formulations and patents from 20+ yrs in my office. I hate it but I can't get rid of them because we do fall back to some of that research and data from time to time when coming up with new products. SO...

I have everything labeled and in white banker boxes for easy access yet they are stacked nicely. He can get whatever he needs with little mess.

I keep one of those 6ft tables in my area for gift wrapping, setting up my packages for FedEx, and workspace when I need something bigger than my desk.

I keep a fan (with remote control) and a heater (with remote control) close by for my temperature control.

I listen to Pandora on my computer or hook my IPad up to my Bose mini speaker and listen to Pandora. I like to listen to Enya, piano, orchestra, Bruno Mars, Theivery Corporation and many more. I keep them going in the background. You can program Pandora to play whatever you are in the mood for and I like that!!

Since I am busy with a lot of paperwork daily. I keep my desk drawer set up with files I need on a daily basis, all customers and vendors are in abc order, all accounts payables are in a numbered folder so it is an extra step to keep track of AP.

I have 2 files set up in my desk area for top drawer and 2nd drawer of my filing cabinet. When my abc order files, top and 2nd drawer files are full, I file everything accordingly in the file cabinet.

I like neat space. I do have a small basket with some of my favorite treats and dog treats as well since my shadows stay with me in the office as well.

I also have some Bath and Body plug ins that smell nice. I love the ones that smell like the beach.

Best wishes to de-stress your office space!

what is allowed in your office space?

How close are you to others?

Do you have your own office?

I would need to know those answers to give a better answer.

If you have the space and your own office? I would recommend soothing sounds CDs.

I also love the stress balls - the ones you squeeze and "pump"? I love those...

if you have the room - a coffee/tea pot - with chamomile tea would be a good idea too...

If you can take a walk around the building during the day? That helps too...I take my dog for a walk around lunch time...it's a nice break to get fresh air and out of the house and back to work!!

-Keep it clean, organized (less mess for the mind)
-CD: try an Enya CD or even just a classical station on the radio
-Big plant in the corner, small one on your desk
-stress balls for your hands to use when you're on the phone
-lamp on your desk so you're not working in dim light plus it lends to the
"nice" atmosphere
-get a few nice things for your desk like a pretty card holder, nice pencil
holder etc. Spruce up your office so it feels less clinical & more cozy
-Feng Shui your space (check out a book from the library)
-take hourly breaks where you stand up & walk to the window or around
your office for a few minutes
-make sure your chair is ergonamically set up to the desk (look it up online if you don't have someone to do it for you)
-place a few things on your bookshelves that are not office-y (a vase,
bookends etc.)
-bring in some fresh flowers once in awhile
-if there's space, you can bring in a nice chair to put in the corner
-you can put a framed photo on your desk but not too many personal
things if you work in an office w/others
-keep some granola bars in your drawer for quick energy
-keep a nice water pitcher that has the glass water cup over the top
-put in some nice canvas artwork (Modern or paintings of a place etc.)
-desk calendar for organization
-inspirational quotes
-keep a sm picture in your drawer of something you're working towards so
when you're having a rough day & you go into your top drawer to get
something you see it as a reminder.
