Storkbites

My son had one between his eyes. He is three now..and it has faded away..but I can't remember when..seems like before 1year.

There are a number of things referred to stork bites, but if you are referring to a salmon colored patch it should go away within the first 18 months.

I know my son has a Mongolian birthmark on his leg. It looks like a bruise and generally they fade entirely by age 5. My son's hasn't faded yet which is surprising since he has only one small mark.

My neice had 1 really bad one right between her eyes and I remember it fading a little bit every month and was gone around 10 months to a year. She is 7 now so I'm really reaching back in the old noddle.

My son has one on his shoulder and one on his arm. They have faded a lot since birth but are still visible. He is almost 13 months old.

Mt daughters went away around 6mo-1 yr of age.

My son had a large one on the back of his head and one on back of neck. The one on his head was actually an indicator he need surgery on his head, if you doc says they are just regular stork bites... the one on his neck is completely gone and he is under 2. : )

Both of my kids had them. Our pediatrician said that at about a year or so they should be gone. That was true for our daughter, my 7 month old still has his a little bit but they are just about gone too.

Hi! My two youngest have these on their forehead between their eyes. My almost three-yr-old's is almost unnoticable, but when she gets really hot or upset it does show. My 7 month-old has it on the nape of her neck also, and both are still there, but I just do not worry about it. I had it when I was born, and so did my dad, mine is completely faded and so is my dad's except for in very hot weather, it's very faint. Noone would notice unless I pointed it out. Another name for them is "Angel Kisses". I like that better!:)

My 23 month old son ,who was 10 weeks early, has 4 of them. One under his right arm, one under his left knee, one in his left ear, and a big one (2" across) on the right side of his chest. They were bright red and really puffy when he was little, and the one on his chest used to bleed (that was terrible, had to change dressing on him twice a day for about 6 weeks). But, the good news is they ALL have faded significantly. They are all almost skin color now. Still a bit wrinkly and raised, but a lot of the little capillaries inside have resolved. And they barely sit above the surface. especially compared to when they were new.

From what I understand they will not grow any more, so as your child grows, they will appear smaller, proportionally, to the rest of her. With the one in my son's ear, sometimes I don't even notice it now, and it used to look like he had shoved a grape into the side of his head.

Try not to worry too much about it. The best part is that it doesn't cause them pain, they don't know that other kids don't have them, and without fail, every kid who has ever noticed his strawberries have been curious in the nicest way. My experiences usually happen at the pool during the parent-tot swim classes. Once the kids ask the question, 'what is that?' I tell them its a birthmark. They ask if it hurts him. I tell them no and then they always want to touch it. I then say ok, but be gentle and then lets get back to swimming. Its all over before you know it and they kids go back to having fun.

Just for reference, my neice had one right in the middle of the back og her neck, and some time around her 5th birthday it fell off. No one even noticed exactly when it dissapeared, we just noticed it was gone.

The doctors told us that if my son's big one doesn't resolve completely that they may do some surgery on it to get rid of the extra skin, but that they would not do this until he was much older (7 to 10) and only if it was a lot of really loose skin. Basically we just don't think about it much. Its healing, shrinking, getting lighter, basically going away. Today I actually saw some pictures we had taken of his sport when he was about 3 months old, and couldn't believe the difference in the appearance of his hemangiomas. He'll be fine, and so will your daughter.

Both of my girls had them in between the eyes. My oldest took the longest to fade, maybe a year and a half until it was no longer visible, but when she cries it still gets red and she is now four. My second daughters faded pretty fast, completely gone by nine months and it never gets red when she cries. I guess it depends on their skin tone.

My son had them on his eyelids, the nape of his neck, and a big one on his forehead. he is now almost two and all of them are gone (including the neck). The one on his forehead is sometimes visible when he's crying, but I don't think most people would notice.

My sons stork bites have faded nicely, he is 17 months now

My son has storkbites on the nape of his neck. He's 15 months old and they're still visible, though only faintly. I don't know what to say about the face ones - they do say (I've read) that most of this type birthmark fade away over the first year or two.

I think it totally varies. I have read of others having them only for 6 months or so and then personally my younger sister who is now in her 20's had one till she was I think 5 or so (maybe older) But it did fade with time. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as she is healthy and happy it won't matter. Congrats on the new baby - enjoy her!

My daughter had a big, bright stork bite between her eyes. She is extremely fair skinned. She is 4 now, and sometimes, when she is really upset, you can still see it. But, aside from that, it has been gone for 2 years.
