S.T.A.F.F. infection....Please Help!

Just to let you Know. I caught a staff infection from my EX's tattoo.. It is sooo hard to get rid of. and yes it is painful, and drains you of all energy. The medicine will pay a tole on her as well, I am 25, and it wore me out. give her some tylnol to take the edge off. And my doctor told me once it is in your system it is always there. and lays dormant. I have had it 2 times. he on the other hand had it 6 times.. and it passes very easily. mine scared. if you keep a bandaid on it it will not pass to someone else also, that is how we kept my @ the time 2yr old from getting it. hope this helps a little. good luck.

This is serious. I had a staff skin infection on my lower leg several months ago and I had a terrible time getting a diagnosis..ER doctors told me to buy hydrocortizone cream and sent me home. My GP took one look at it and knew what it was and prescribed heavy antibiotics and salve of the same name. Having this appear on her genitals is very serious and she should be seen immediately and make sure to tell them about your dh having it also. Mine completely disappeared after treatment, but my doctor told me it is very contageous and I stayed away from EVERYONE until it was gone and disinfected my home and even slept separately from my husband or wrapped myself in a separate sheet. Don't have her around others and wash your hands with antibacterial soap after touching her. Keep clothing on her that prevents her from touching it and spreading it to other locations on her body. Tell your husband to get in to the doctor as well and get a diagnosis and medication or keep him away from you and her. Please let me know how it goes. Good luck Hon.

Yes get her in the doc now. She mostly like will need anitbotics. The advice the others gave was great. I am a nurse and washing hands and keeping the area covered to prevent spread are the best ways to go. Poor baby I hope all goes well.

Hi K.. Yes definately take your little one to the pediatrician quickly. A staph infection is nothing to play with. Basically a staph infection is a very strong bacterial infection of the staphlococcus bacteria. Your little one will probably have to get this lanced (they basically drain the liquid out of it) and will more than likely need an antibiotic. Be sure your pediatrician "cultures the wound." This is the only reliable way to be sure it is a staph infection. If her father has staph infection issues he needs to get them treated and under control. Staph infections can come back months or even years later if they are not properly treated at the get go. Good luck!

I myself have had to deal with these staph infections. My 3 1/2 year old got one on her bottom from scratching a chigger bite. Most people don't realize that staph is colonized in your nose. It's not in everyone. But it happens to be in my family. So when it finds an opening in the skin, (chigger bites) or the soft skin of babys bottoms that are more prone to butt rash. it can grow... I have found that virgorous hand washing (I know a 3 year old) I also have an 18 month old now but was 10 months old and developed MRSA which is a very antibiotic resistant strain of staph. She was hospitalized for 4 days. Both of my daughters cases were last year and have been spot free now.
I have had 2 cases of MRSA, 1 in March and I became very ill, the 2nd wasn't as bad. I don't give my daughters bath's together any more, I give them showers. My best advice is to watch your daughter. Right now at this point having her soak in a warm bath would help too.
If she starts running a fever or the spot starts getting redder you need to get her back to the dr. I hope this helps, all this information is alot to take in. It was for me. if you need anything...
