Spring Break Ideas - North Richland Hills,TX

We are actually thinking of taking our 4 kids (ages: 12, 11, 10 and 7) on a short trip this spring break. We are near Ft Worth and it would need to be within driving distance (less than 8 hours away) and have something for everyone without breaking the bank. I'm thinking that we would expect to drive a day, stay 2 nights and drive a day back.
Any ideas or recommendations?

What about the Gulf Shores/Biloxi area? Or Galveston or Arkansas hot springs area

I just found out about this place in Flint, Texas. It is like Great Wolf Lodge and it is the same exact people who designed this indoor waterpark. It is called Waterpark at the Villages. You can go just for the day and it is very reasonable. It is associated with Silverleaf Resorts and you do not have to stay in the resort unless you want to stay. I have a friend who went to hear the sales pitch just to get free admission. I would rather pay the $20 to get in and bypass the sales pitch. I was told it is only about an hour and a half drive from Dallas.

San Antonio would be my 1st choice.

Theres a show called "day tripper" that is about trips in Texas that are within 1 days drive. You can go on that website and plan an itinerary of cool roadside attractions and fun Texas things to do.

San Antonio would be my recommendation. We've done that a couple of times for Spring Break with our kids and always had a good time. Sea World is great. Six Flags Fiesta Texas may not be open, though (San Antonio's spring break week is usually a week earlier and that is when they are open).

San Antonio is awesome for families and has Sea World and Six Flags. New Braunfels has the Schlitterbaun water park and beautiful rivers. But my favorite is Corpus Christi. It's pretty laid back, the beaches are great, they have a great aquarium and the USS Lexington is docked there and it's not nearly as expensive as the other two places.

We have been to St. Louis and Kansas City with our family and both have lots to do and are not too far to drive. Possibly more than 8 hours but definitely do able in one day. http://alphamom.com/family-fun/activities/50-things-to-do...

St. Louis has tons of free stuff too. http://explorestlouis.com/visit-explore/discover/st-louis... Their zoo is free and awesome as are most of their museums and very family friendly. If you go to St. Louis we recommend the Cheshire Inn, the staff is amazing and the rooms are very nice. They just remodeled last August so everything is new. New orleans is also fun and about 8 hours away. Lots of Museums, fun food and people watching. They have a great zoo and aquarium and the d-day museum is amazing and fun for all ages. If you are in New Orleans around St.Patricks day there are also parades, that are Mardi Gras like but without all the craziness. A beautiful city!

Have a Great trip where ever you decide to go:)

There is Fort Worth Science and History Museum that has activities for all ages. There is also Van Grow; an art studio for kids. In the stockyard area there is a cattle drive twice a day (Fort Worth website for times).
