Hi everyone,

I recently had a good look at the back of my legs and the spider veins were horrendous. My legs look like I am severely bruised. The veins are not painful. Has anyone done anything to correct their veins and if so can you recommend a doctor? Thanks.

My husband has a cluster on his calf, I was thinking of calling vein clinics of america, to see what they can do.
I know that they have 1 in Orland Park.
I have heard that bad veins in your legs can lead to heart attacks. Not sure if it is true. Please post if you find a good doctor.

Hi J.,
I had mine done at Vein Clinic of America in Orland Park 3 years ago. I was very satisfied ;-) Spider veins do come back after couple of years so after I have my baby I plan to visit them again. I think the nurse that did my injections was Jurata, the Doctor only does the consultation, but she really new what she was doing. I had my veins done three times allready at 2 differnet Doctor's and so far she was the best, it's just sad that the veins DO do come back ;-( The phone #is ###-###-#### Best of luck-A.

I can't tell you what doctor to see but can mention what to be careful with. A friend of mine had spider veins also. She would get comments about being clumsy or hit. She went to one of those spas that say they can reduce with lasers. While this is a good way to do it, she did not check if there was a medical certification and she had some bad burning in spots. So now she still has some spider veins though not as bad but also has brown or gray damaged skin spots. If you choose to go to a spa to have it done, make sure the person is certified for laser treatments. I read an article some time ago in the Chicago Trib and they mentioned that medical certification is needed to truly be considered valid.

Dr. Deborah Beaird at Northwest Dermatology helped me with some of mine. I need to go back for more but just haven't yet. She injects saline solution into them and they eventually dry up. She's a very good, competent doctor and would be able to tell you if she could do this with yours. I think it depends on the size. It's a very easy procedure.
